Stories of world serial killers cannot be well told without mentioning one man by the name Kendall Francois, who is said to have been raised in Poughkeepsie, New York. Kendall Francois is among the greatest serial killers the dark world has ever witnessed. Kendall Francois was born in HYPERLINK “http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poughkeepsie_%28city%29,_New_York” o “Poughkeepsie (city), New York” Poughkeepsie, New York on July 26, 1971. Throughout his life time, Francois is revealed to have murdered around eight women prostitutes (Murphy, 1999). This is said to have happened between 1996 and 1998.
Since early 1997, police and the public in Poughkeepsie got concerned over the disappearance of persons, particularly (Murphy, 1999). A number of persons were reportedly found missing. From November 1996, three ladies had gone missing, all petite, prostitutes of white origin. This appeared to be far more to be a coincidence. In March the following year, another alarm was raised following the disappearance of Catherine Marsh, whom reports said that the last time she had been seen is during a similar time frame like the rest of the other three ladies. Police conducted investigation to locate these missing women; they unsuccessfully searched Jane Doe Listings and rap-sheets.
In yet another scenario, another lady by the name Mary Giaccone went missing. She was located by her relatives to have attended her mother’s funeral, but she was nowhere to be found. Mary portrayed similar attributes as the other three women (Murphy, 1999). Even at this point, police seemed not to have any promising suspect rather than a guy by the name Kendall Francois who is a lifelong resident of Poughkeepsie and lived in the company of his parents. However, police had no tangible reason of detaining him after interrogating him. It was reported that thorough surveillance and interrogation was conducted by the investigative police on Francois, and even went ahead to poke around his bedroom and to their surprise nothing unusual was found.
At one time, an area prostitute reported that Francoise was extremely rough and notorious during sex, and was reported to have assaulted a prostitute within his parents’ premises. This made him to be arrested in January 1998. In the same year, a woman by the name Sandra Dean French was reported to have disappeared and her vehicle was found left three days later, just few miles from Francois’ home. Moreover, Catina Newmaster was also found missing (Murphy, 1999). Newmaster was described as a white prostitute who was short, pitite, and with brown hair.
Kendal Francois was spotted strangling a prostitute whom he had abducted on 1st September 1998. Fortunately the woman managed to flee way. Over the same period, the police surveillance was still trying to uncover the mystery surrounding the disappearance of a number of prostitutes. Bob McCready, Police Detective, was trying to get information from the public by distributing flyers. It is after her escape that she reported the matter to the Poughkeepsie Police Detectives having filed a case against Francois for assault. Having admitted to report to 99 Fulton Avenue police department to discuss the assault claims, Francois made many shocking admissions concerning the disappearance of prostitute women. He was arrested by the police and charged with murder count of Newmaster. On September 2, 1998, police officers led by detectives conducted a search in Francois’ house thereby discovering bodies of victims hidden in the house (Murphy, 1999).
In October, Francois appeared before Dutchess County Court where he got charged with first degree murder on eight counts, attempted assault, and second degree murder. The Dutchess County Court ruled that Francois was confirmed guilty of the murder cases, leading to his formal life imprisonment (without parole) sentencing. Francois is currently locked up in the Attica Correctional Facility (Murphy, 1999).

One of the most popular stereotypes is the one that is associated with blonde hair. Ladies with blonde hair especially, are used in movies to act as dumb and stupid. It is from this that many people refer to the trait of being dumb as being blonde. The blonde hair however is also used to portray women who are more attractive, fun loving and risk takers. This is unlike their brunette counter parts who considering the fact that they are more intelligent, most of them act as nerds. It is said that people of the male gender expect women to become more fun if they dye their hair blonde. This is highly unlikely because changing hair colour is like changing clothes. A woman’s character will remain the same after dying their hair. The blonde hair colour in women’s hair has also been used to make sexist jokes, which is very unethical.
As much as blonde women have been depicted to rely more on their looks than their brains, studies have shown that natural blondes have a higher IQ than the brunettes and the red heads. No woman should be judged on the basis of her hair colour. Women should be given equal opportunities to portray themselves with regard to their abilities. For example in the movie Legally Blonde, Reese Witherspoon acts as a blonde girl who was dumped by her boyfriend because he thought that she will never be the serious, intelligent woman he needed to achieve his goals. To everyone’s surprise, she graduated top of her class in Harvard Law School.

The book ‘A sound Of Thunder’ is a phenomenal piece of work judging by the ideology used in the book. The author, Ray Bradbury, exhibited a high level of creativity the book having been published first in 1952(Bradbury, 52). The story begins by introducing us to a character named Eckel and the aspect of time travel is also introduced to make the reader aware of what the story will entail. This is a good move as the aspect of suspense shouldn’t be overused as it is a short story. It also enables the reader to brace themselves for most of the story. We are also reconciled with the fact that the aspect of time travel is still new and that no one is aware of what the whole adventure is something that no one is familiar with and that no one is quite certain about the safety of the whole trip.
After Eckel the next character we are introduced to Mr. Travis. He is the tour guide to the adventure is being planned. At this point we are also made introduced to another aspect of the story, dinosaurs. Apparently the whole trip to the past is a hunting expedition. Mr. Travis is supposed to tell Eckel ‘what and where to shoot’(Pepper,23). The aspect of the butterfly theory is seen to be emphasized as Eckel is to disobey instructions he would pay heavily for it. The authors exemplary way of expressing himself is seen when he describes the office Eckel is in. He is very specific in his choice of descriptive words.
Eckel is surprised when he see the time machine, still emphasizing on the novelty of the idea of time travel. Shortly after this we are introduced to the theme of politics. We are let into Eckel’s thoughts as we are told about an election that had just been concluded(Bradbury, 52). He expresses his relief to the fact that God Keith had won the elections and expresses his thoughts about him. He says that “he’ll make a good president of the united states of America.” The man behind the desk to the office Eckel has visited expresses similar thoughts. The other contestant is viewed as a potential dictator. According to the words used to describe him, Detscher, the other contestant, we get the notion that a lot of people did not support him.
Eckel is supposed to go back in time to hunt down a dinosaur, specifically a Tyrannosaurus Rex. The dangerousness of the situation is expressed at this point considering the fact that this dinosaur is one of the most ferocious hunters ever(Pepper, 23). We are also told of the danger lurking from the count of people who have been killed in similar adventures in the past. However the offer of an amazing adventure is also put on the table.
The author tries to bring out how the whole aspect of time travel would occur by counting the events of the same. At the same time we are introduced to three other characters: Lesperance, who is Mr. Travis’ assistant and two other hunters, Billings and Kramer. We are also told of Eckel being uncomfortable through the whole journey(Pepper,23). He expresses his lack of confidence in his rifle. Travis assures him and goes further to give him a brief description on how to kill the gigantic beasts. From this we find that he is quite conversant with such issues thus proving his proficiency in his job.
It is believed that altering anything in the past would bring very serious changes in the future. Travis explains this to Eckel who has a hard time trying to understand this concept. Travis explains in detail and from this we see the aspect of the butterfly theory. A quick look into this we find that the author had put a lot of effort into bringing this out. Surprisingly this is a concept that had not been established at the time of the publishing of this story(Bradbury, 52). The animals that are to be hunted are the ones that would have died anyway so as to preserve this belief. The seriousness of the matter is shown when Eckel is not permitted to even aim using his rifle.
The hunt that had been carefully planned is ruined when Eckel’s fear takes the better of him when he saw the dinosaur. He runs off and the others manage to kill it. The tree that was supposed to kill the beast falls on its dead body with finality. Originally there was a path set for the hunters to walk on so as not to step on anything and affect the balance of nature. Eckel steps out of this and towards the end we find out that this had brought certain complications. However before they wrapped up the hunt Eckel is told to remove the bullets from the beast as they can’t be left behind.
When they go back to the future they find that things were jumbled up. It is then that Eckel realizes that he had stepped on a butterfly when he had stepped off the path when they had travelled back in time. The presidential elections results had even changed and now Deutscher had won(Pepper,23). This occurrence infuriates Travis and he cocks his gun. We are left in suspense as a sound of thunder is heard but not explained where it came from.
