Pressure gradient force

Pressure gradient

Pressure gradient is the resultant force of the flow of air towards a low pressure zone originating from the high pressure zone. This flow is caused by pressure difference and it takes place in order to create equilibrium. Presence of differences in temperatures and height above sea level

Pressure gradient force

This is the force produced when air moves from a high pressure zone to a low pressure zone due to pressure difference. This means that the difference causes air to flow from the high pressure zone to the low pressure zone in order to achieve equilibrium. When there is difference in temperatures and altitude, the density of air will differ and consequently causes differences in pressure. Due to water and moisture content, cold air is denser than warm air. The height of the atmosphere (thickness) is higher when air is warm. As air warms the volume of the air increases and this causes expansion of the air. When air is cooling, it will contract. When warm air is placed next to cold air, the density differences between the air masses set up a pressure difference as well. Pressure gradient force causes the movement of air from areas where pressure is high to areas where pressure is low. When the pressure difference is wide, there is more force and hence a stronger wind (Roland, 2000).

The Four Different Types Of Mothers

The Four Different Types Of Mothers

Introduction

Mothers are touted as some of the most (if not the most) important people in any person’s life. This is especially because of the incredible role that they play in nurturing individuals, supporting them and bring them up. However, individuals will have different mother figures in their lives as the article by Brock states. Brock outlines four types of mothers that an individual could have. There is the biological mother, with whom an individual shares his or her genes and to whom everyone owes their existence (Brock 2). In addition, some individuals have step moms who are connected to them legally. In most cases, relationships with stepmoms are rocky. This, however, does not undermine their importance in an individual’s life. Adopted mothers, on the other hand, are mothers by choice. They choose to open their hearts to the kids and are always patient with them (Brock 4). Lastly, there is the selected mother to whom an individual is not legally or genetically bonded rather an individual chooses this mother (Brock 5). They provide guidance, nurture individuals and are often the closest to the individuals as their kids can open up to them on any issue.

This article aims at underlining the importance of mothers, as well as arouse, in the reader, the need to appreciate the varied mother figures in their lives. It underlines the fact that mothers play an incredible role in one’s life and should be respected. This is irrespective of the differences that may exist between an individual and a mother figure especially in the case of step mothers. However, while the article underlines the need to appreciate mothers, it is silent on what should be done in case where mothers reject their kids or show no affection at all. Nevertheless, it makes an incredible read.
