Point of View Essay

When I woke up last Sunday in the morning, I decided to take a view of the nature, as I stood behind our house. What I saw at the first glance was a paradise, something that I had missed for a long time. Almost all vegetation was decorated in a bright green coloration that led me to remember the pictures of heaven that I use to see in story books when I was young. The rose flowers behind the house added pink coloration that that made the flowers proud of their unique contribution to the nature. I irresistibly moved ahead and picked one of the flowers. The natural sweet scent of the flower made me feel like I needed to use it as a perfume. The sound of the whistling wind and chanting birds made the nature seem complete.

The nature became less attractive when I went close to the trees. Under the trees was rotting garbage made of fallen leaves that had lost the chlorophyll. There were also fallen dried small branches of trees that had been invaded by beetles. One of the trees that I never knew its name had borne some fruits that seemed ripe. I decided to pick one of the ripe fruits and taste. Although the color of the fruit was attractive, it had a very bad taste. There was also a dead, rotting bird that produced a foul smell. The dead bird had wallowing maggots that seemed like they were competing to consume the fresh. Why did I come closer to the dead bird? The stench of the dead bird made me wonder.

Rhetoric Description

I used several direct phrases in the point of view essay. In the first paragraph, for instance, I stated that “what I saw at the first glance was a paradise.” The purpose of the phrase is to give a hint of the beauty of the nature, or to emphasize the positive aspect of the nature. In the second paragraph, I used the used the phrase “why did I come closer to the dead bird!” to emphasize the negative aspect of nature.

Secondly, I carefully selected details about nature to include and to omit in the first and second paragraphs. I included the positive details in the first paragraph and the negative details in the second paragraph. In the first paragraph, for instance, I mentioned about the beautiful elements of nature such as the good coloration of vegetation and flowers, the good scent of the flowers, the whistling wind and the chanting birds. In the second paragraph, I mentioned about the fallen dried leaves and branches, the bad taste of the fruit and the dead bird.

My approach mainly involved showing, rather than just telling. In other words, I described my view of nature in details, rather than just summarizing. In the first paragraph, for instance, I mentioned that the nature was beautiful in my view. I elaborated further through mentioning the beautiful aspects of the nature. The sentence “almost all vegetation was decorated in a deep-green coloration that led me to remember the pictures of heaven that I use to see in story books when I was young” was meant to describe the beauty of nature. In the same vein, I used the sentence “there were also fallen dried small branches of trees that seemed like they had been invaded by beetles” to describe the negative aspect of nature.

I was also careful when selecting the choice of words to use in the description of the nature. For instance, instead of just mentioning that the rotting bird had a bad smell, I stated that it had a foul smell. Instead of just mentioning that the vegetation had a ‘green’ coloration, I stated that it had a ‘bright green’ coloration. Instead of just describing the flowers as having a good smell, I mentioned that they had a sweet smell. The purpose of the using such words was to emphasize on both the positive and negative aspects of nature.

I also used figurative language in the essay. For instance, I used the metaphor “what I saw at the first glance was a paradise” to describe the beauty of the nature. I used personification in the phrase “rose flowers behind the house added pink coloration that that made the flowers proud” to emphasize on the important contribution of the flowers to the nature.

Reflection

I learnt two main things through writing the assignment. First, I learned how to use sensory details to describe a particular scenario in an elaborate manner, rather than just tell or give a summary of the scenario. Secondly, I have leaned the five elements of the writer’s toolbox and how to incorporate them in my writing. I can comfortable apply the new knowledge in life when describing particular geographical places that are of interest to other people. In my view, the elements of the writer’s box should be incorporated extensively in the written media, such as magazines and newspapers, in order to enhance the attention of the readers.

Point of View Essay The Beauties of Central Park

As the chilly wind blew across the park, I noticed that other people were having a glimpse of what crossed my mind. The park was quiet with all kinds of nature surrounding mean. In almost all direction, vegetation is green and colorful out of the florid trees and short and beautiful bushes around the park. The wind would be heard clearly whistling through the green and beautifully structured trees. In a moment, I stood looking to the natural beauties and the sounds that could naturally be created without the assistance of human effort. The only efforts that seem to have been implanted by man are the pattern of vegetation in which case it can hardly be natural. The vegetation is scattered in a way that would allow people have a cool and soothing environment. Its great and beautiful environment could be reflected to its establishment in 1857 as indicated in a signpost that stands right in front of me. A mixture of flowers of various species and colors send nice and attractive scent creating a feeling of one wishing to stay there in eternity.

I did not hesitate to taste the some nectar from flowers as I found it difficult to glare at the work of bees trying to extract nectar from the same flowers. I thought it was a great idea to have a taste of the nectar and it was actually great. I could hardly ignore that soft touch of green grass as I laid on the grass looking at the great scenery created by the sun as it was slowly varnishing in the yellow-orange horizon. Surprisingly, the wind was decreasing in intensity making the voices generated by the wind as it paves its way through the trees faded out. The sweet singing voices of birds were also dying out.

Horrible Grounds

You can hardly imagine the contrast that existed in the same place but separation is only through distance. As eagerly looked at the beautiful sunset scene, behind me was a horror of a place. I could hardly imagine that on the other end of the central park could be so deserted that one would feel afraid staying back to watch the end of the day as he or she welcomes the night. I noticed this as I took off from the park after just twenty minutes of my stay in the park. The place was quiet, dark, and the good scent from flowers had certainly died out. I could hardly figure out the reason for this but I thought to myself that the place could have been isolated due to its location. The region has little or no vegetation and people abandon it for this main reason among other reasons. This place is so isolated that it turns out to look horrible. Besides, people could be seen doing all sorts of things at late hours of the day making the park unfavorable to some people who may find some unethical behaviors disgusting. The park is well lit at night but the lighting shadows make some sports frightening. As I passed through the now deserted part to my way home, the weather was not only cold but also freezing. This aspect creates a significant contrast between day and night in the park. The contrast in this case happened in an unbelievably short time, about half an hour.

Point Of Sale Log Reeses Big Cup Company

Point Of Sale Log: Reese’s Big Cup Company

The product sold is chocolate bars made from peanut butter, and they are produced by the company known as Reese’s Big Cup. According to the research that I conducted, the peanut butter chocolate bars are mostly sold in almost all retail stores, and can also be found in specialty candy stores, and gourmet and grocery food. Other places, which the product can be found, and are readily available, include syndicated stores and vending machines. Also, the product can be found at the high end stores that sell specialty chocolate. This is because the product is sold all year round in all the various locations. The packaging is often unique, whereby the peanut butter chocolate is six in number in every packaging. The product is also packaged in many different varieties that are extremely colorful. Reese’s Big Cup makes use of an intermediary distribution channel, whereby the Hershey Company has the responsibility of distribution (Ferrel & Hartline, 2007. 45). The method employed by Reese’s Big Cup is extremely beneficial as it relieves itself of having to market and distribute the products itself. The two companies have come up with a partnership and the success of this strategy it evident. Upon observing, when deliveries were being made, I saw that the employees in the delivery van had put on Hershey Company uniforms.

The target market selected by Reese’s Big Cup Company is teenagers and young children. They range from the ages of five to seventeen years old, who love to indulge in sweets and candy. They have come up with attractive packaging, which easily attract the target market. The wrappers for the packages come in various colors such as Gold and Red. It seems that the marketing strategy employed by the company is successful. This is because the stores, which stock the peanut butter chocolate bars, are easily accessible by the target market. Also, the various locations are convenient as there are other facilities such as malls and restaurants within the vicinity. The company has ensured that its products are readily available. The distribution used by the company is effective, but more needs to be done to make it successful. For example, since the target market attends school, the company should seek to provide a variety of its products in the vending machines, found in most schools. The use of an intermediary for the purposes of distribution has helped a lot, as the target market is obtaining the Reese’s Big Cup Products (Dent, 2008. 90).

After a lot of research, it has been found out the distribution channel being used by Reese’s Big Cup Company makes effective use of a supplier. The latter is the Hershey Company, which has been given this role. This conclusion is because Reese’s Big Cup does not distribute its own products. The advertising and marketing efforts are done by the Hershey Company (Hershey Co (HSYN.N), 2011. 1). The products are available in countries such as Australia, Canada and the United States. In turn, the latter company benefits as it obtains a percentage of the earnings that Reese’s Big Cup earns. As a result, of using this type of distribution strategy Reese’s Big Cup enjoys benefits such as a competitive advantage, larger market share, and increased profits, among others (Nash, 1994. 89).
