Health Promotion Strategies
Some health promotion strategies that can be employed in a primary care setting include providing patients with early treatment, counseling, advice and referral, and screening patients for risk factors and disease. These two roles can go a long way in promoting global health. Although both strategies speak to individual care, when done collectively can contribute to positive health change at a global level. Clinicians should be actively involved in advising, counseling, and referring patients to institutions where they can get better care. Most people seem to be of the opinion that clinicians should treat patients with the conditions they are ailing; however, this is not true. They should take time to conduct thorough assessments and advise their patients on the best ways to take care of their health. It is also the duty of patients to ask questions and request explanations about their conditions. This way, the patients I better placed to care for themselves even in the absence of the clinician and make decisions that will help them improve their health. Screening is also important in global health promotion as it keeps people informed about the conditions they are likely to suffer. By assessing a patient’s family history and screening them, clinicians are likely to tell when a patient is at risk of suffering from conditions such as cancer. By screening them early, it is possible to treat the condition in the early stages hence saving their lives.

Health Promotion Societal Issues: Mental Health
Introduction:
The World Health Organization (WHO) (2004, P. 13) defines mental health as a state of completeness in the social, physical and emotional wellbeing. It is emphasized that mental health is not just a lack of infirmity or disease. People in the society and my community have displayed ignorance of this fact, and research shows that it is widespread in the world. Creating awareness of the meaning of mental health, and the parameters that determine mental health is essential for the realization of overall health of the people. The notion of viewing mental disease as an extraordinary disease needs to be done away with, and the true sense of the concept instilled into the people.
Background information/Why I chose the topic:
I am interested in exploring this topic because of the attitudes of the people in my community regarding the whole concept of mental health. The sense of the current definition of mental health, (WHO, 2004), is far from conceptualization in my community. People perceive mental health as witchcraft, curse, traditional evil counter-attacks and such strange mythological explanations. According to the WHO (2004, p. 14), there can’t be health without mental health. Further, mental health is determined by a complex of factor-interplay between behaviors, physical activity/inactivity, and trauma (Kobau et al., 2011). Since mental health is more than just the lack or absence of illness, and it exists in a continuum, everyone is likely to suffer it. Such understanding lacks among the majority of the people in my community. Health promotion targeting this topic can be of a greater benefit in improving the health of the members of my community.
Possible interventions:
i). enhancing positive psychology
Kobau et al. (2011) defines positive psychology as the study of such resources and behaviors that strengthen the assets of the community, with a view to preventing mental disorder, and enhancing the quality of life of the people. The mental health promotion in this line seeks to enhance the psychological strengths, resources and the individual competencies of the people. In this regard, the mental health promotion that factors positive psychology will address the models and theories that people have formed about mental health in their society. By doing so, the mental health promotion gives a chance for the community members to criticize their view about the mental health concepts, and this enables them to appreciate the new concepts being introduced to them. According to Kobau et al. (2011), positive psychology in mental health promotion provides unique approaches for appreciating psychological resilience, contributing in a great way in understanding the concept of mental health, and health promotion in general.
ii). Creating awareness through public education
Public education is an effective way of effecting mental health promotion programs in the community. Kalra et al. (2011) posit that public education has been found to work very well in reducing the burden of disease, as well as, morbidity in mental disease. In this regard, the education targets the environment, individuals and the society. In a society that has a background of poor understanding of mental health, educational programmes are very effective for introducing the new concepts, and instilling them into the community members. Such avenues provide opportunities for the members to learn from one another and appreciate the concepts being taught. A larger proportion of the members is thus likely to benefit from such a programme.

In psychology, an experiment involves a set of experimental conditions, such as a comparison between two groups, the manipulation of an independent variable, and the measurement of an outcome or dependent variable. An experiment is meant to test a hypothesis. An experiment is always performed in order to answer one or more questions about human behavior. In psychology experiments are carried out using surveys and measures that have been tested on previous subjects (to ensure validity). Experiments are often designed by researchers so they can take advantage of the natural variation in behavior among participants (Doliński, 2018).
According to Doliński, an experiment in psychology is significance since through effective research a hypothesis can be proven effectively. Research is a systematic investigation into the causes of a particular effect or phenomenon, in order to determine its laws and effects. Recent research has also seen an emphasis on exploring things such as how our mind works or even how to cure cancer. For instance, research has found that people who practice positive thinking have a better life than those who do not; furthermore, it can help individuals reach their goals faster. They provide an experience of scientific discovery since there is specific testing methodologies utilized.
The main facets of an experiment are the independent variable, dependent variable, the control group, and the experimental group. The independent variable is the variable being observed. The dependent variable is the observed response to the independent variable. The experimental group is exposed to the independent variable (Doliński, 2018). The control group is not exposed to this same independent variable, but you can’t really call them “untainted” by it because they are exposed to different things that could affect their responses (e.g., not enough sleep). For example, if we were doing an experiment on sleep deprivation and how it might affect your performance on certain tasks, we would assign one group of people as “sleep-deprived” and another group as “well-rested”. Sn example of a research question that would be addressed with this method is “How does the implementation of flipped classroom approach impact student’s motivation to complete school work specifically in 6th grade?”
One major advantage of using experiment method in psychology is that it makes possible to test a hypothesis in a controlled manner. This allows for the better interpretation of experimental results, which is an essential process in the scientific method. Another benefit of experiment method is that it is flexible, allowing for many possible experimental designs.
However, one major limitation of using experiment method in psychology is that it requires outlay of resources and time on behalf of participants involved. Participants are required to go through all procedures necessary to make sure the experimentation is complete and successful before they can be acknowledged as a part.
