Persuasion has turn out to be a significant factor in displaying of advertisements. Most of them are featuring celebrities for the endorsement of their products. The ad “Island breeze by Bacardi” features a popular celebrity Kim Cattrall globally recognized for her enthusiasm in the show “sex and the city.” She is holding a slim-shaped glass where in it is the island breeze by Bacardi original lite spirit.
This ad is inclusive of four theoretical tools: pathos, ethos, logos and target audience. Pathos is well illustrated because the ad is obviously directed to women who would like to maintain their waistline or better yet, loose weight. There is a pathetic appeal to all ladies to drink island breeze by Bacardi so that they can maintain a desired figure. This is further emphasized by the glass held by Kim which has a very slender shape. This is a desirable shape to many ladies and thus goes further to emphasize the shape that comes with drinking the lime spirit.
Ethos is clearly displayed in the ad by use of a celebrity to give approval to the product. It gives the impression that if you drink island breeze, you could look as beautiful as Kim Cattrall or even become as famous. In addition to the appeal for the ad, Kim is dressed in a flattering dress to show that drinking of lime spirit can make you slim, sexy and attractive. Another key element is the cool effect brought about by Kim Cattrall. Her hair seems to be blowing away yet from her dressing, one could tell that she is dressed for hot weather. This indicates that drinking of island breeze can cool you even in hot weather.
The brand name of the product “island breeze,” indicates that lime spirit is meant to cool you even in hot weather. The brand name indicates that the product is by Bacardi which is a well known and respected company in the United States that has achieved customer satisfaction. The indication that the lime spirit will only provide half the calories as compared to other traditional spirits and wines is a major consolation especially to women who like to have fun by relaxing with a drink and would at the same time like to maintain their waistline or better yet loose weight. The lime spirit comes as good news to all ladies because eating and drinking of only foods and beverages with minimum calories can not be over emphasized in the maintenance of a desirable figure. The lime spirit also has a array of flavors including coconut and wild berry to cater for the different tastes and preferences of its consumers.
Ladies are the targeted audience in this ad and especially those who like to have fun like just like Kim Cattrall. The fact that island breeze promises to give only half the amount of calories as compared to many traditional spirits and wine is meant to target ladies. It is well known that ladies would do what celebrities do in order to have the same body shape and maybe just as famous. The advertisement takes advantage of this fact by the use of Kim Cattrall a well renowned actress in a bid to target the ladies.
The combination of the theoretical tools evident in this ad will have a key impact on the targeted audience. The use of a famous model that looks slim, sexy, and attractive and linking the product to a reputable company (Bacardi) that has gained customer satisfaction makes the ad well balanced. The promise of the ad that the lime spirit is made from natural lime and only provides half the calories in comparison to other traditional spirits and wine will also have a significant impact on the targeted audience.

Description of a Technical Device
Before using any technical device, it is essential to have basic information about it. Background information about a technical device and its accompanying components is also important when purchasing it. A computer is a good example of technical device that a user or buyer needs to have background information about. The purpose of this paper is to give a description of the desktop Dell Inspiron, one of the recent computer products of the Dell Company.
Dell Inspiron description
A complete set of desktop Dell Inspiron computer comprises of four key components, namely, the CPU (the Central Processing Unit), keyboard, mouse and monitor (Tyler). The CPU is the main device that plays the role of processing information or data. The keyboard and the mouse are the movable components of the computer. Both play the role of data input. By pressing the labeled buttons of a keyboard, electronic signals are sent to the CPU, where they are processed to give specific information. The mouse has a right and a left button, which mainly play the role of controlling a cursor that is visible on the screen of the monitor. The monitor plays the role of output; it displays the information that is processed by the CPU (Tyler).
All the four components of the computer are black in color. The exterior parts of the four components are mainly made of plastic, except the CPU that has a back that is made of metal. The front side of the monitor is made of silver plastic. The CPU is around eighteen inches in height, twenty inches in length and six inches in width. The keyboard is about six inches in width and twenty inches in length (Dell). The monitor has a screen of about seventeen inches in height and twenty-one inches in length, although its size may vary. From the front, the CPU has a CD or a DVD drive that is easily opened through pressing a button. The CPU also has USB ports at the front and at the back. A USB port is small opening that allows the user of a technical device to plug external devices such as external hard drives, flash drives, iPads and iPods. Also, the CPU has a port for a camera memory, which has a different size from the other ports. The port allows the user to plug memory card of a camera. In addition, the CPU has ports for the keyboard, monitor, speakers and printers (Dell). As well, the CPU has an Ethernet port that allows the user to connect the computer to network.
The CPU has several important internal components, which have an influence on its functioning ability. Among the most important internal components of the computer are the processor, memory (RAM), storage (hard drive), optical drive, video graphics, media card and operating system. There are several varieties of a Dell Inspiron computer, and the sizes of the internal parts depend on the type (Dell). The details of the internal parts are often written on them and are also visible after switching on the computer, in the hardware settings. Among other functions, the device can be used in accessing internet, researching, playing games, storing data, typing documents, listening to music, drawing pictures, telecommunication, calculating and storing numerical data, word processing and watching news (Dell). The device can be used at home and in organizations.
Conclusion
The Dell Inspiron computer has many important parts. Understanding both the internal and external components of the computer is important. Although a user or a buyer may not have knowledge of the technical information about the device, the basic information is important when making purchasing decisions and in understanding its applicability.

Parents, in general, and mothers, in particular, make up some of the most crucial individuals in any child’s life. They are known to nurture their kids and shape them into individuals who can be envied in the future. In fact, writers and poets (on behalf of everyone else) often christen them the epitomes of love. This is irrespective of the fact that they are not always right. However, this does not underline the notion that mothers are the same the world over. They are extremely different both in their personalities and mothering capabilities and styles. While there is no explicit definition of a mother, the term may be used to describe a woman who undertakes the unconditional and selfless responsibility of nurturing the physical, psychological, as well as the emotional wellbeing of her children (Ford, 2012). This is usually accomplished even while the mothers have other responsibilities that come with running households and managing their careers. However, questions arise as to what makes up a successful or good mother. As much as there are variations in certain aspects of personality and mothering styles, there are certain aspects that will remain a common denominator in all successful mothers.
Good mothers are known to exercise understanding in their motherly duties. Scholars note that successful mothers recognize perfection in the bringing up of a kid is a fantasy (Ford, 2012). They recognize missteps as opportunities that can be utilized to enhance personal growth and change. In such a scenario, they understand that their kids have a high likelihood of testing boundaries so as test consequences, in which case they maintain an honest and open relationship with the kids.
On the same note, they acknowledge that as much as they may be excellent in carrying out certain duties, nurturing their kids demands that they delegate some of the tasks to them so as to imbue an element of responsibility in the kids (Ford, 2012). This is in line with the acknowledgement of the fact that, they cannot be or do everything in which case they let go and allow the kids and other individuals to undertake tasks that they thought they must undertake on their own (Ford, 2012). Nurturing the kids does not only revolve around telling them what to do and how to do it, rather it also encompasses allowing them to undertake these tasks, as well as make mistakes that will eventually become opportunities to learn grow intellectually, emotionally, as well as physically. In this regard, good mothers have the capacity to recognize instances where they need help, in which case they would not be under pressure to do everything perfectly by themselves. These simple gestures of asking for help from others give them an opportunity to recharge and refresh.
One of the most explored personality traits of a mother is being loving or showing love to her kids and those around her. Unfortunately, this trait is more often than not mistaken for leniency in imparting discipline and showering the kids with love. This, however, does not have to be the case as a good mother must be capable of setting fair rules that will guide her kids and their behavior both in the house and outside the home (Ford, 2012). They assign chores that are appropriate to the ages of the kids and demand accountability from the kids for their behavior. This is in line with the recognition or acknowledgement of the fact that the key goal of parenthood is developing nurturing the kids to allow them to grow into responsible adults.
As much as telling kids what to do would be imperative in nurturing their behavior, good parents place more emphasis on becoming role models to their kids where they live in line with the things that they teach (Ford, 2012). Scholars note that nurturing a certain behavior in would not only involve telling them what to do while doing the exact opposite. In fact, such a strategy would be likely to give contrary results, especially considering that kids learn better through watching the behavior of their parents (Ford, 2012). They always tend to emulate their parents, in which case a good mother would have to consider her actions and align them with the teachings that she imparts in her children so as to create a role model for them. Going contrary to one’s teachings would reek of hypocrisy on the part of the parent.
Lastly, good mothers acknowledge the unique talents and capabilities of their children, at an early age, and nurture them to enhance their growth (Ford, 2012). Mothers acknowledge that their kids cannot always be what they (the parents) want them to be, and, therefore, look for those unique talents in their children and nurture them so as to allow for their growth rather than kill them so as to satisfy their own dreams.
Being a good mother is not confined to any religion, career, educational background, culture, environment, goals, language or mode of dressing. In fact, being a good mother is all about personality traits and morals, as well as the manner in which an individual imparts the same in her kids. It is about cultivating a healthy relationship with her kids, striving to provide for their needs and nurturing them to become the best people or individuals that they can become in life, in line with their talents and capabilities (Ford, 2012). It is about living in line with the morals that an individual is cultivating or imparting in her children.
