Describe the person in the Ad. Body image, stance, expression. etc.

Man

The man is poised and confident. He is fully dressed in a suit and bow tie. His face expresses self-belief and self-assurance. His body image communicates that he knows what he wants and he usually gets what he wants. It illustrates that he can conquer everything. His poise oozes authority, dominance, and power. He is in control and he has the world at his fingertips. Nothing can faze or shake him. His appearance is real as there is no photo manipulation technique used.

Woman

The woman is highly sexualized. She is not fully-dressed as she is wearing a bareback dress that is only covering a quarter of her body. Her sexual features such as eyes, lips, breasts, thighs and hips are highlighted extensively in the picture. She is sitting provocatively on a staircase in a pose that is meant to focus attention on her erotic features. Her body image communicates an overt desire to look sexually attractive. She appears to be a bit unsure and insecure. Her only source of power and strength is her sexuality. Her appearance is artificial because it is apparent that photo manipulation techniques such as airbrushing and computer enhancement have been used.

b) Discuss why you think this particular image helps to sell whatever product is being advertised.

Male Image

The male image helps to sell the Dolce & Gabbana cologne being advertised by instilling a desire in men to be as confident and poised as the man used in the picture. Most men have a desire to be successful and powerful. The image implies that the power and dominance craved by a majority of men can only be achieved by using the product being used by the man in the advertisement. The sense of authority and control given by using the cologne will make men possess the irresistible charm possessed by the man in the advertisement.

Female Image

The female image helps to sell the Coco Chanel perfume being advertised by implying that highly attractive women use the product. The women who will see the image will judge themselves against it; and they will purchase the product to achieve the sexual attractiveness depicted by the woman in the image. The product is a must-have if a woman wants to look as enticing as the woman in the picture.

c) Discuss how this particular image communicates something about the culture’s notions of males and females.

Male Image

The male image communicates the cultural notion that men are powerful, dominant, and superior. Their source of power and authority is the way they present themselves to the society. They do not have to remove their clothes to demonstrate their sex appeal because they are sexually attractive even when they are fully clothed in a suit. The fact that there is no photo manipulation is evidence that when it comes to men, looks are not important. The only important thing is confidence and self-belief.

Female Image

The female image communicates the cultural notion that the source of female power in the world is sexual attractiveness. It implies that the sole purpose of women is to attract male visual attention and satisfy male sexual pressure. Focusing on the sexual and erotic features of females erodes their humanity and reduces them to objects or things. Women are portrayed as weak and inferior to men because they can only become powerful if they remove their clothes. The use of make-up and photo-manipulation reveals that society deems looks to be the most important thing when it comes to women. Women are under constant pressure to conform to a universal unachievable standard of beauty.

Describe the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) protocol model

Presented to

Institution

The Open System Interconnection (OSI) protocol model was developed because of the need for international networking standards designed to facilitate effective communication between software and hardware systems with differing underlying architectures. The OSI protocol Model allows a network communication to take place without any problem (Oracle, 2010). The figure below represents the OSI protocol showing the seven models. Seven layers form part of an international program that develops data-networking protocols. Each of the seven layers making up the OSI protocol has a distinct function.

Figure 1: the OSI Protocol Model

The physical layer forms the first layer and defines the physical and electrical properties together with the device operating specifications. In general, the physical layer physically connects the media. The second layer functions as the Data Link layer. This layer provides a means of transferring data between network modes within a wide area of networks like; IEEE, FDDI etc. in addition, the Data Link layer serves as an error detector and provides the necessary corrections (Zadri, 2010).

The Network layer forms the third model whose function is to forward and route data through the model logical paths between connection nodes. In addition, this layer handles errors, quality service control, and packet sequencing. The fourth layer is called Transport layer. This layer transfers segments between nodes, together with recovery and flow control of data. The Session layer takes control of any tear and wear of connection sessions occurring between network nodes. The protocol data unit in use at this layer is called ‘data’. Presentation layer forms the sixth layer. This layer presents data from all applications and breaking it down to be used in the session layer. In addition, it formats data to be sent to other nodes. The final layer is called Application layer, which handles the initial network connections. On this layer, the user, or applicant, types in activities like, web browsing, sending emails, etc (Zadri, 2010).

Describe the legal effect of the DECLARATION OF ROAD MAINTENANCE

Describe the legal effect of the DECLARATION OF ROAD MAINTENANCE AGREEMENT on Dieter, Pavel, and the owners of the other parcels touching Venture Valley Road

The legal effect of the Declaration Of Road Maintenance Agreement on Dieter, Pavel, and the owners of the other parcels touching Venture Valley Road has the following implications: The agreement binds all of them and their successors be it through inheritance of the said lands or through sell to third parties. They have to maintain the road under good conditions in spite of the weather and repairs shall only be made after the majority of the owners of the road agree to this fact. However, if any of them damages the road then the costs of repair shall be met by him and if he refuses then legal action will be taken against him where he is likely to pay up litigation costs of the suit and costs thereof to the damaged road.

In the event that one of the owners requests in writing to make improvements on the road and does not get replies in a period of six month he is free to go to court and seek an injunction on the said agreement under Civil code section 845 as if the agreement was nonexistent. Apart from that the declaration and agreement shall be deemed and is intended to run with the land and to be a constraint upon the said property and all the undersigned, assigns, their heirs, successors, and personal representatives who shall be bound by it until a time when the provided easement shall be accepted for and dedicated for use as a public street by a government entity.

Can Dieter deny access to Pavel across parcels 20 and 21, since he owns them both? Why or why not?

Dieter cannot deny access to Pavel across parcels 20 and 21, even if he owns them both this is because part 1 of the agreement is very clear on such an action. It states that the easement defined herein shall be put to use commonly with all the other owners of the said lands to which such declaration is attached.

What happens to the Venture Valley Road easement if Dieter sells parcels 20 and 21 to Marcel?

If Dieter sells parcels 20 and 21 to Marcel, Venture Valley Road easement will adopt the new owner in their agreement as articulated in Part 7 of the agreement where its indicated that the declaration and agreement shall be deemed and is intended to run with the land and to be a constraint upon the said property and all the undersigned, assigns, their heirs, successors, and personal representatives who shall be bound by it until a time when the provided easement shall be accepted for and dedicated for use as a public street by a government entity. It is the objective therein that this tool shall be recorded and that any succeeding of the property or any part herein would be accepted as conveyance of the property herein or transfer there about or any part therein by acceptance of the deeds delivery.

What happens to the Venture Valley Road easement if Pavel sells parcel 18 to Dieter?

If Pavel sells parcel 18 to Dieter any other owner of Venture Valley Road easement is free to go to court if he or she feels aggrieved as stated in part8 of the agreement: nothing in the agreement shall be interpreted to be confining or restraining the rights of the owners or their inheritors or other persons deemed as successors through buying if they have any interest to pursue remedies as provided in section 845 of the civil code or other sections as provided by the law.

What happens to the Venture Valley Road easement if Pavel splits parcel 18 (with the county’s permission) into two equal 5-acre parcels at the north/south halfway line?

If Pavel splits parcel 18 (with the county’s permission) into two equal 5-acre parcels at the north/south halfway line any owner of the Venture Valley Road easement can go to court and evoke part 4 of the agreement which states that all the owners concede that if they permit or cause the land to be utilized in a way that results in an out of the ordinary destruction to the surface of the road they shall accept the costs of repair and maintenance to restore such a surface to its former self or else legal action would be taken against them in accordance with the law.
