Sometimes we really want something too much, but we eventually end up getting the wrong things in life. There are various individuals in history, and to whose, their stories have been narrated to us by people who wanted something and did everything they could to obtain it but ended up getting the wrong choice. It is therefore not a new thing to find people having a desire to accomplish things of their choice only to get disappointed at the later stages by getting a substandard thing comparing to what they wanted.

In the bible, there is a story of a man by the name Jacob who was in love with Rachael as a daughter to Laban. Laban had two daughters Leah and Rachael, and the oldest was Leah. It was such that the second daughter according to their tradition could not be married before the first and older daughter and therefore Leah was to get married before Rachael. Jacob fell in love with Rachael and went to the father of the girl Laban to negotiate for dowry. Since Jacob had no material possession to offer as dowry, he was asked to work at Laban’s grounds for seven years so that he could marry Rachael. Since Jacob was in love with Rachael, he agreed to work for seven years to later marry his wife to be Rachael.

Jacob was ready to do everything as requested by Laban and that’s why he agreed to labor for him. In the end, the tremendous disappointed came to happen after completion of the seven years of work. In mind, Jacob had completed the full payment of the dowry and thus was waiting for the due day to be given his wife, Rachael. Unfortunately, during the day to which the bride was being offered, some conditions were set. One of the conditions that the bride could be delivered at night in darkness and the second was that Jacob had to be blindfolded when the girl was entering the room. Little did Jacob knew that he was being played tricks and that what he expected was not what was being delivered and thus he did not worry about anything as he had trust in the promise made. After the long night, the unexpected happened, and Jacob woke up to the realization that he had been made to marry Leah to whom he had no intentions of marrying.

Jacob did not have any affection for Leah, and therefore he had to go and ask Laban what had happened. In return, he was made aware that the Rachael could not be married before Leah could be married and so in case he wanted to marry Rachael, and he had to work again for another seven years. Jacob decided to work for the extra seven years so that he could finally marry the love of his heart. After working for fourteen years in Laban’s home, he managed to marry both Leah and Rachael. Jacob had to pay a huge price to get what he wanted. From the story, we can say that with little or hard work it is possible to let the things you are fighting for go and therefore we should be determined to fight for our rightful ownership. Jacob had no powers neither could he be able to revert the traditions that any girl from the society could be married at any time without following the order of birth. With no power to change his situation, he was eventually made to marry Leah the first daughter of Laban to whom he never wanted and was compelled to work again to marry the right person. Perseverance and hard work are therefore one of the critical things that we need to possess so that we can attain and achieve our goals.

Organizations as social systems- Hispanics

The Hispanics are among the fastest growing populations of the minorities in the United States and already constitute a significant segment of the population in the areas such as the southwest of America (Crockett et al.). Despite the rising population of the Hispanics in Main Street, the mental problems of the Hispanics have been far from being solved. The main reason for the inference if the lack of the representation as well as no cases from the ethnic community has been so far reported, having an indication that the communities health needs are not being addressed in the right manner. The Hispanics are a minority group who tend to be conservative and have a poor seeking behavior that can be attributed to the lower socio-economic status. The community has below per income considering that it is an immigrant community on the American soil.

As it is well stipulated in the American population, every individual is entitled to proper healthcare regardless of the race. The Hispanic community has been left behind both in the socio-economic, political as well as the social structure and this has contributed to having the heaviest blow on the community (Delgado). Politically, the community has experienced a close to zero representation, and thus we can deduce that the community is inappropriately represented. It is not only the political representation that the community lacks but as in the healthcare sector including in the Main Street there is no representation. Taking into consideration that the community is an ethnic minority, we then have to infer that they don’t speak much of fluent English and thus might get stuck due to the language barrier. Again, the community of reference has its roots in the rural areas where there is almost no exposure to the health facilities and services as well. The inadequate representation of the community to the health committees have widened the gap day by day as the population of the Hispanics has continued to rise in the rural areas.

Socially, the community is more conservative and tend to seclude themselves; this makes it difficult for the outreach communities to reach them in the ground. The reason for being conservative may be attributed to their cultural aspects to which they don’t want to lose. Culturally, the community does not mix with the other communities, and this also tends to explain the health-seeking behaviors of the community of reference. It can, therefore, be deduced that if the health providers are not one of their own, we expect two or more things to happen. For one, the person may fail to get diagnosed due to the language barrier and therefore calling for an interpreter. The issue of the interpreter may also prove to be futile as the Main Street organization has no representative of the Hispanic community and making it worse, none of the board members speak the Hispanic language. The second aspect would be due to the incompatibility of the community to mingle and socialize with the other communities. The aspect of being conservative bar the community from barring the individuals from seeking for treatment as they prefer to be attended by one of their own due to their cultural demands (Larkey et al.)

Narrowing down the line, the Hispanic community is impoverished, taking the lowest class in the social structure. The issue of being the lowest in the social stratification raises some concern about the community’s ability to seek health services at a cost. The community has a lower income and thus may be torn in between seeking health care services and maintaining their families. The case may be much relevant especially if the services are offered at a cost. Distance is another issue that may have contributed to the low turnout of the Hispanic populations to the mental checkup facilities. The services being provided may not be close enough, and this discourages the members of the community from seeking any health services and not necessarily mental health care. It is not yet over to the community in the matter regarding their perspective on mental health conditions. It is possible that the Hispanic community believes that a mental condition may have resulted from a bad omen, a curse or even from witchcraft (Parks et al.). The belief therefore completely deviates from seeking medical services at the set institutions but rather prefer to go to the traditional healers who will try and restore the situation, and this leads to the conclusion as to why the Hispanic community has lowered health-seeking behavior compared to the other communities.

Taking into consideration of the above disparities and needs that retrain the community from accessing medical assistance, the health department in coordination with the social workers, therefore, have a lot of things to put in place to fix the situation. The first consideration to which the organization is expected to make include the recruitment of some of the members of the Hispanic community to work with them so that they can be used to draw the attention of the rest of the community members. We do expect that the recruitment might also not be easy as the community does not want to engage much to the outside world, and this calls for devotion and extra resources in luring them on their side.

In trying to sooth the members of the community to work with them, it means that they have to employ study groups that will be sent to the deep rural areas to where the community resides. The group needs to be specialized, trained as well as possess bilingual aspects such that they are capable of communicating effectively with the locals. The training calls for funds, to which will cater for the training process. After training, the team is to be dispatched to the communities, setting up camps to which they educate the members of the community about the issues related to mental conditions. The group at this point is entrusted to make awareness to the community, sensitizing them on the important issues as well as the need for medical treatment.

After creating awareness, the group is expected to recruit several members from the community to whom will act as representatives to the community communicating the necessary issues to them whenever the need arises. The chosen members are also required to undergo skills and training about handling mental health patients. The whole process requires a lot of money, and thus a good budget is needed. According to our budget, almost half of the money is expected to go to the training of the staff as well as creating awareness.

The next issue down the line, regards working through evidence, a sample of the population having the mental conditions are taken with the consent of the community to the institution for treatment. The sample is then returned to the community to assert the need for medical treatment and making the community believe that mental condition is not a curse nor is it a bad omen but a normal condition like the rest and requires medical attention. Another thing that the institution may do considering the Hispanic’s restrictive budget is to provide diagnosis and treatment services close to the population so that the community may not be required to travel for a long distance to seek the mental health treatment. The decision can be achieved through using mobile services such as camps where diagnoses are to take place and also doing referral services for patients who are greatly affected by the conditions to their main facility.

Taking into consideration that the community is not well off, the institution has input measures and policies that would aid in reducing the cost of mental treatment, to enable seeking treatment among the population specifically in this case for the mental health patients. As this is not a one day program, a continuous assessment program should be imitated to monitor the impact of the intervention measures put across. The program may take a lot of time from two to three months down the line in the training and recruitment of the staffs to aid in the health facility. The rest of the money in the budget will be used in the purchase of the required resources so that the program can be sustained. The budget is more limiting, taking into consideration that the intervention is an ongoing activity and that the recruits need to be paid allowances and salaries and this is the major challenge. Also more money and resources need to be directed to this program so that proper and adequate results are obtained. The government is required to form policies advocating for mental health treatment among the minority communities by making it accessible, available as well as affordable to the target community, and this will have the overall effect of improving the health-seeking behaviors of the communities such as the Hispanics. The social workers here also have to be included to the groups as they can help in manning the areas to which the populations are located and may help in the conducting of research aimed at health service improvement from the members of the community so that monitoring can be made easy.

Oppression by the Government

V for Vendetta by Allan Moore is a political graphical novel. The main character is V who is a revolutionist and freedom fighter (Moore). The government of the time is ruled and is full of dictatorship such that the citizens get spied on whatever they are doing. The act of spying against the citizens demeans the freedom as well as the rights of the citizens, and this triggers the call for a revolution in the quest of the government to respect the rights of the citizens to which have been infringed. In this, we get to understand that V for Vendetta is a societal based piece that prompts us not to forget our rights as citizens and therefore we have to keep the government on toes for the guarantee of our freedom and rights.

In V for Vendetta, each of the different institutions of the NorseFire government gets to be named after the different parts of the body (Moore). The head represents the leader’s offices at the Downing Street that happens to be the real-life location headquarters for the authoritative body of NoseFire. The eye represents the surveillance which was mainly dispatched to work along with the ear so that the senior departments such as the head and the finger would maintain the grip on power and the people of Britain and was eventually destroyed by V with a bomb. The finger represented the law enforcement, the implication of the different names is basically that the government in itself is a human body. The mouth was the propaganda division of the NorseFire government, the nose was the investigation department and consisted of the rebranded police force. The ear was the audio surveillance division and was dispatched to work alongside the eye in the chancellor’s quest for power and tighten his grip over the public but was later destroyed by V.

V is fighting for the freedom of the people an idea he believes that the government is corrupt and is led by its interests rather than those of the people. The NosrFire government has forgotten the reason why it was elected neglecting the people and this angers V where he initiates the journey to unveil and eliminate the corrupt leaders calling the people to stand against the monstrous government for their freedom to be achieved. In this quest, he blows major buildings in an attempt the Norsefire government. The concentration camps are used for the settlement of the men who are considered impure, where the scientists developed a deadly virus and tested it on the people in the camps, thus it was more like a laboratory for the scientific experiments.

The citizens are in fear of persecution as they are powerless, almost all the people in power possess the most fear as indicated in the film. The NorseFire government use the technique of fear intimidating the people to gain power. On multiple occasions, the news explains that the government is there for the people ensuring their protection and for their good. The reality later dawns that the government causes all the events to which possess the motive of making the people believe that they need the government for protection. Stories were also made to cover up the weaknesses of the government and anything that made it seem like its authority was weakening, for example, the cover-up of the first explosion. The government does so because they are afraid of not being under control of every event that happens. The chancellor, Sutler, and Greedy were among the people in power and to whom were subjects of being in fear of criticizing the government (Moore). The idea of the fox masks was to act as a shield against the power of fear over the people as with the conditioning power of fear, the people were unable to express their true standings, morals, and values and they had to put the masks every day to conform into the society’s ways. The idea of wearing the mask was to hide their true identity as if a person could be unmasked, he or she could be in the risk of persecution and this made the people live in fear and felt safe with the protection of the mask.

Due to the increased terrorist activities that V had triggered, the government to further control and instilling fear to its people puts into effect a curfew to which all the regular citizens are subject to, and the onset of the curfew is announced via the vintage looking loudspeakers.

“Yellow coded curfew is now in place. Any unauthorized personnel will be subject to arrest; this is for your protection” (Moore).

That was a similar message that was used to instill fear in the people in the claim that the NorseFire government was in protection of its citizens.

In the V for Vendetta, young girls like Evey are forced to consider prostitution due to poverty that has been associated with them. In the case of Evey, she is an orphan as her mother died in a nuclear war attack and her father was arrested and prosecuted by the NorseFire government (Moore). Due to this situation, she is forced to work in different environments to which does not keep her financially stable and eventually she decides to become a prostitute. On 5th of November is the day of the failed gunpowder plot where the protagonist V decides to bring down the dystopian government that was led by NorseFire.

It is important for Evey to remain V as is anonymous and his identity is unknown. The scrutiny by the government in the citizen’s affairs may not work well considering that Evey resisted the rape against the police officer to whom she was secured by V. Therefore to fight for her rights she has to remain unnoticed to avoid persecution just like her father. The continuation of V is an endless cycle in the fact that the government of the time was used in spying its citizens and infringing on their rights. The same characteristics are evident in the current governments to which they enact laws to spy on its people, the rights of the people are infringed, and the aspects of corruption and dictatorship are also prominent in the leadership of today.
