Medical Reserach Topic Proposal
It is an assignment for statistic module but the field of study is medicine. the assignemtet is about
finding an issue relevant to medicine or diseases that people face and how could we overcome
it. in the assignment there should be some statical graphs explaining the issue.
. Title (20 words maximum)
Give a succinct title to describe your proposed work. It can be a statement or in the form of a
question.
2. Introduction and relevance (250 words maximum)
Explain why the subject you are proposing is relevant to the degree programme you are
studying. Why is it an interesting and relevant topic? Is it a current/topical issue? Is there a need
to explore the topic further? Do you have any personal interest/motivation?
3. Key research (500 words maximum)
What is known already about the subject that you are proposing? What are the key studies that
have been done in the area? Show that you are up-to-date with the latest knowledge in the area.
This can include research in closely allied areas to your own topic if the research in your own
topic is sparse. If there is a lot of existing research in the area then you will need to be highly
selective in what you choose to discuss. You should try to evaluate the work you are reviewing,
not just list what has been done.
4. Justification of proposal (300 words maximum)
Based on the key research presented in part (3) what aspect of knowledge/research do you feel
is lacking? Are there questions that remain unanswered? Have you identified a gap in
knowledge? Are there situations that you think the existing knowledge could be tested in a better
or different way? Justify the need to undertake more research in the chosen area.
5. Aims (50 words maximum)
Having identified a gap in knowledge, as discussed in part (4), what specific aims do you have?
Please summarise in around 3 bullet points.
6. Your proposed plan of action (300 words maximum)
How will you achieve the aims set out in part (5)? Outline the methods that you will use. What
information will you collect? How will your investigation take place? Provide details of
sampling/collection/analysis of data. Will your work be literature based only? Do you intend to do
laboratory experiments? Will you undertake a survey/field work? Will you use
questionnaires/interviews? In writing your plan consider its achievability as a potential 7. Ethical issues (50 words maximum)
Do you foresee any ethical issues arising from your research proposal? If not, say why not. If so,
what are they and how might you address them?
8. References (as guidance, at least 15 references would be expected to be cited, with is no
upper limit)
Provide a full list of works that you have cited according to university citation regulations. Most of
these, although not exclusively, will be from part (3).

Considering the current breast cancer incidence, death, recurrence, metastatic disease, risk factors, and treatment options, the Avon
Breast Cancer Crusade continues to search for new preventive strategies to address the growing number of cases around the globe.
The aim of this program is to support innovative, high impact research focused on ending breast cancer. This year, the Avon
Breast Cancer Crusade Research Program seeks proposals to advance understanding of prevention of breast cancer.
You are required by your employee – Streetsboro Department of Health – to prepare a quad chart of the synopsis of the
proposed research for this grant proposal.
**You are highly encouraged to conduct a literature review on breast cancer before preparing your applications. **
Summary of Learning Objectives:
1. Use library discovery tools to identify credible or professional journal articles.
2. Determine appropriate use of data, statistical methods, and laboratory procedures for problem identification and resolution, and
program planning, implementation and evaluation.
3. Summarize information from popular and professional articles.
4. Apply evidence-based biological principles to development and implementation of breast cancer prevention, control, or
management of programs.
PROCEDURE
A. General Instructions
• Please make a quad chart on one PowerPoint slide that describes your proposed project.
• You are expected to briefly inform the general public about the design and the merit of your work, that is, the information should be written for members of the general public, rather than for researchers or professionals.
• You are limited to one slide ONLY.
• Use 11 point Arial font (template default). If you do not have enough space, reduce the amount of text, not the size of the font.
• Please see the quad chart cheat sheet above and the template below for help.
B. Content
• Header: Project Information
• Enter Project Title, Principal Investigator (you) Name in the format: First, Last, and Degree(s)
• Enter research area addressed, program director/manager or company name
• Complete all the sections of the Quad chart
Quadrant 1: Project Description (Upper Left)
• Enter total $ award amount requested.
• Enter anticipated start date of the project.
• Enter the Key Research Aims.
• Provide a summary description of the design, noting the population, intervention and comparators, and primary outcome measure, as
applicable.
Quadrant 2: Project Benefits and Innovations (Lower Left)
• List the major (potential) scientific innovations of the project in the upper section.
• List the anticipated benefits and challenges to women in the lower section.
Quadrant 3: Figure (Upper Right)
• Illustrate the problem, conceptual model, study approach (graph or table of relevant data may be used).
Quadrant 4: Timeline (Lower right)
• Insert a simplified study timeline listing the tasks, funding, and the fiscal years the study will be active OR your measures of success

• The research paper should be pertinent to an aging-related topic. TOPIC: Sociological
Perspectives on Aging (Mental Health and Aging)
• Please be sure to include an introduction and conclusion
• College-level writing in spelling, grammar, and punctuation is expected. Communicate your
points about the selected topic and support them with factual evidence obtained from peerreviewed journal articles.
• Three peer-reviewed journal articles at a minimum should be cited throughout the paper to
support your assertions. Peer-reviewed journal articles are available through the Stafford Library.
• The course textbook is acceptable as a supplemental source. Textbooks other than the course
text will not be accepted as references. Books, websites, and articles from popular media are
supplemental sources and do not count toward peer-reviewed journal articles.
• It should be double-spaced and use 12-point Times New Roman font and 1-inch margins. It
should include 6 body pages
• Body: Introduction
• Paragraph or two that provides:
• An overview describing the main topics of your research.
• The audience for whom this research is important and why.
• A transition from general discussion of your topics to a description of your project.

• A heading structure is used to organize the body of the paper (APA Level 1 headings).

• Critical, analytical, and informed thinking is evident.
• Each section of the paper provides a thorough analysis of the applicable concepts covered in
the text.
• Assertions in each section of the paper are supported by application of the reading
assignments and outside research listed on the reference page. (All sources listed on the
reference page are cited in the body.)
• A thorough summary that clearly reminds the reader of the preceding content and gives
evaluations or recommendations to address the issues discussed in the paper on a social,
political or economic level.

• Sources include a minimum of three scholarly, peer-reviewed journal articles that are freely
available at the STAFFORD library. All references should be relevant to the content of the paper
and applied in-text.
