Choose an herbal, a nutraceutical, or a nutritional item, and research a current study (last 5
years from a peer-reviewed journal) that supports or refutes that item.
Include the following:
The name of the item: List the common and Latin names, if available. Report if you were unable
to locate a Latin name.
Medical properties of the item you selected
List the medical diagnoses it can support, improve, or heal.
List the name of the chemical component in that item that has the medicinal qualities. If there is
no name of the chemical component available, record that none is available or known.
Record what you have researched on your selected item and how it is commonly used. Record if
you found no information in peer-reviewed journals.
Dosage and administration routes
Drug interactions and side effects
Record using proper grammar and in 250 words or less an interesting finding and/or conclusion
of a current peer-reviewed, research study (less than 5 years old) that supports or refutes the
item you chose. List why the study was supportive or negative towards the item you selected.
List at least 2 reasons why the study was well done or poorly done, and provide your rationale.
Additional Assignment Instructions:
The paragraph will have no more than 250 words and include the criteria as listed above. If
criteria was not found, list that you were unable to find any information from peer-reviewed
journals and why you believe you were unable to get that information.
You are to use APA formatting for any data pulled from other sources. Editors are not acceptable
for citations or references, unless there are no alternative authors for the chapters used.
Use proper grammar and punctuation in your writing.
For the first two sections, a table format is acceptable, but do not forget your APA citations for
any data you pull.
The third section will be a written paragraph that is APA-formatted, cited, referenced, and will
include at least two references (text and research study).

Your hospital organization wants to do a comprehensive review of where they are with the Joint
Commission standards and what work needs to be done to meet those standards. The
organization has established a Lead Team to coordinate the work. Using the Joint Commission
accreditation manual that you can access using course reserves, find the table of contents listing
accreditation requirements. You will be putting together a team to work on ensuring that your
organization is meeting one of the standards. Review the list of requirements in the table of
contents and select one chapter for your “team” to work on. (Do not select Accreditation
Participation Requirements (APR) or Waived Testing (WT)). Review the standard and the
“elements of performance” for the chapter that you have selected and provide the following:
Select ten (10) elements of performance in your selected chapter.
Who are your team members? (use a functional title)
Describe how you will divide the work for your team.
Describe what your team deliverables will be to the organization’s lead team.
In a written document, provide the standard, the elements of performance and how your team
will demonstrate meeting that element.
In your submission, have an introduction, then enumerate the concepts (1-5) with your answers,
and finalize with a conclusion. As always, have at least two cited sources.
