Career Assignment

1.Choose a career to investigate. This should be a career from your field of study, or a career that you think you would enjoy. It does not have to be an IT career.

2.Visit the Occupation Outlook Handbook at www.bls.gov/OCO/ (Links to an external site.)to learn more about your chosen career.

3.Visit some popular employment sites such as www.indeed.com (Links to an external site.) or www.careerbuilder.com (Links to an external site.) to search for a part-time job, a full-time job, or an internship opportunity in your chosen career.

4.Write a one to two page paper (double spaced) using Microsoft Word on your chosen career. The paper should include a description of the career (what the job will entail), the educational requirements for the career, and the expected growth potential (number of jobs expected to be needed) for the career. This information is available in the Occupation Outlook Handbook.

Also include information found at the employment sites – the opportunities available in your chosen career, where the jobs are located, the range of salaries, and the skills/experience necessary to be considered for the jobs. Include in the discussion whether computer fluency is necessary in any of the job opportunities and how computers will be utilized. When completed, save the file as 5.Lastname_Career_Assignment replacing Lastname with your last name. Use the button to the right to upload your completed file by the due date. This assignment is optional and worth 10 Bonus points.
