Ethics and Environment. Environmental Ethics.

Ethics and Environment. Environmental Ethics.

1. What happened? — General introduction into the topic.
2. Who/what got hurt? — detailed explanation of harm/damage to people and/or the environment.
3. Who would have benefited from the wrongdoing? — explain why a given business entity
decided to engage in activity that led to the problem of your case. For example, in BP Mexican
Gulf oil spill the oil company was trying to save money on maintenance of their equipment that
led to its malfunction and a disaster.
4. How was the case resolved in real life? — An actual decision by a court, regulatory agency or
the company itself to repair the damage and alleviate the harm caused by the wrongdoing.
5. How would an ethical framework of your choice resolve this case? — Here you are to pick one
framework (from the following list: Utilitarianism, Deontology (Kantian Ethics) and Social Contract
theory) and apply it to the case. First you need to let us know what the framework stands for (2-3
paragraphs with quotes, etc. from the textbook). Second, you need to see what outcome would
this framework look for in your particular business case and elaborate on what exactly should be
done to address the problem from the point of view of the chosen framework
