Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the insurance industry
Conduct a full literature review on academic research on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the corporate finance and investment policies, financial markets or financial institutions or all. What constitutes corporate financial and investment policies can be found in the textbook’s content. First, it must be related to profit-oriented corporations. It cannot be about government or not-for-profit entities. Your job is to inform readers of what scholars have done quantitatively or qualitatively to assess or analyze the impact of the pandemic on a financial institution (specifically insurance). Examples of financial and investment policies include debt and equity issuances, cash holdings, dividend or share repurchases, capital structures, capital expenditures, and capital budgeting, trade credit, working capital management, exports, imports, and foreign exchange risks, financial risk management, corporate boards and directors, agency problems, CEO pays or executive compensations, financial constraints, cost of capital, etc. The financial institution selected is insurance companies.
The review should focus primarily on the U.S. firms, but can include international ones. It cannot contain discussion of only international corporations.
