Analyse the Case Study provided – “Low COVID-19 vaccination rates in Indigenous communities in western NSW – what
went wrong, why and what should we do better next time?”
Choose 2-3 issues to be solved, discuss options for potential solutions and explore reasons of choosing these solutions.
Write your analysis while using a range of theoretical concepts related to health systems science that you have been
learning about in this unit.
In your analysis you should use the Case Study to demonstrate your understanding of:
• how systems thinking helps to understand public health responses
• the role of digital health and health informatics in patient and public safety
• the principles of resilient systems and their importance when responding to crises
You will find all of the resources you need about this case in the presentation from Thursday 1
nd of September – see the
ECHO recording if you missed that session. The slides and links to resources will be posted in iLearn.
Your case study report must include the following headings and you must use the ‘Writing a case study response’
guidelines.
• Introduction
• Description
• Discussion
• Conclusion/Recommendations
• References
Guide for assessment/marking of assignment 2
The guide which the marker will use to assess your assignment (marking rubric) is included at the end of this document.
Please note the weighting which will be applied to each section, in the marking rubric. For example, you can see that
the ‘Discussion’ section is given the most weighting (50% or 20 marks).
Referencing
Please refer to the MPH Noticeboard on iLearn particularly in relation to academic integrity and assignment guide. It
is essential that any resources, journal articles, reports, books, web pages etc. that you refer to in your essay are
appropriately referenced using the Vancouver citation style.
Word length
The word length guide for this assignment is 2,500 words – 5% penalty if you exceed this by more than 200 words.
