Vietnam War was a civil war among two halves of Vietnam

“Some people say the Vietnam War was a civil war among two halves of Vietnam. Others argue that it was an anti-US imperialism struggle on the part of the Vietnamese
revolutionaries. Yet some suggest that it was an anti-communism campaign going badly. Using primary and secondary sources, both provided in this class and from your own research, and based on what you’ve learned about the context of the war, what interpretation do you support? Choose one of the three options (Civil war, anti-US imperialism struggle or anti-communism campaign).
Requirements:
– Length: 5 pages (see writing format below)
– Use both primary sources (a memo, a report, a story… published/released *in the past*) and secondary sources (contemporary articles/books analyzing primary sources). For example, Diem’s conversation with Cabot Lodge in 1963 or George Kennan’s assessment of the Vietnam conflict in 1967 are
considered “primary sources,” whereas Logevall’s chapter on LBJ’s decision to escalate the Vietnam War in 1965 or Hammond’s chapter on how the media contributed to the chaos after Tet are “secondary sources.”
Note that Wikipedia and History.com are not considered reliable sources for this kind of assignment, although they are a good first point of reference.
– Cite your sources. Since this paper is not a memo, nor an oped, you can cite using footnotes or in-text citations.
Writing format:
• Typed, Single spaced with 1” margins; 12-point Times New Roman font; left justified.
• No added space between paragraphs.
• Cite your sources. If you are unsure about how to not commit plagiarism, please check out the links provided in the syllabus (under Honor Code).
All articles needed are attached. Only one outside source may be used and use at LEAST 2-3 articles attached. Please be sure to use the article(s) by Dixon and or George Kennan.
