U.S. History: 1877-present

Introduction

The political, social, and economic status of the US faced a great depression from1877 to the early 20th century. During the year 1877, the United States experienced a period of reconstruction whereby Friedman, scallywags and carpetbaggers who redeemed the area from the black rule, formed Republican political coalition. They intimidated voters to secure the victory and also enhanced the power to compromise because they promised Hayes power only if the government cooperated in removing federal troops from their areas. As a result, several republicans vacated the south leading to a regression of economic and social growth.

Discussion

In 1892, the Populist party was formed by the black and white farmers in order to secure power, but the party faded in 1896 with the exception of NC. This was accompanied by an era of post-reconstruction, which was associated with taxes. The end of 18th century Atlanta witnessed racial realism because segregation was endorsed. The Gilded age followed until 1890s. This period was marked by population and economic growth even though the era ended with the economic depression. Social Darwinism sprouted at the end of the 19th century in response to the immigration, innovation and the struggle for African American freedom because the principle of survival for the fittest was the justification factor for racial distinctions. The social gospel of the early 20th Century was devised by protestant movement, which aimed at addressing social problems, such as liquor, unions, crime, race, education and child labour. Issues of ethnic reforms and questions about social Darwinism were administered up to 1917. The war industries board was founded to regulate the buying of the World War I supplies and also in decreasing tension among people. Leaders passed laws which hindered prohibited citizens from voting according to their sex and democratic principles. The Espionage Act was formed to prohibit spying and the use of false statements which could impede the success of the military.World War II was very essential because it addressed anticommunism issues by catalysing revolution and suppressing criminal syndicates. In addition, the war promoted interaction with international communities.

Conclusion

The present development in social, political and economic fields in the US faced several challenges in the past. There is no doubt that the current political, social and economic fabric of the United States is a result of the various stages and transformations through which the country has endured in a test of time.

Gun laws in the U.S. have been the pillar of the needed change in regulating firearm ownership and use in the country. One of the most demanding issues in the U.S. is the need to rectify and put sanity in the whole sector of firearm acquisition and use. There are also different rules for which different types of guns people are allowed to own and – again – these vary from state to state. The various issues surrounding gun ownership and use has dealt a heavy cost on many Americans that has raised the concern of public safety. The congressional debates have produced little solutions that continues to reduce the effectiveness of the gun control laws (Fox et al., 2016). The National Riffles Association as the biggest agency in the gun business has been accused of being adamant in bringing change in the country in the area of gun laws. Most laws that have been passed in trying to regulate gun ownership and use have done little to put sanity in the business.

To add on this, the various norms and aspects of regulations ad local rules have proved ineffective to put the dangers associated with illegal gun ownership to a stop. The whole debate about putting gun laws has revolved around the liberals and the conservatives. In the midst of all the neglect and failure of the government is the increased shootings and loss of innocent lives that needs to be addressed urgently (Fox et al., 2016). In addition, the value of increased safety has never been higher as the need for effective gun laws continue to rise. The solution to the issues of gun violence and innocent killings lies in creating firm laws that can help address all aspects of lawlessness. The US needs to create reliable and strong laws that can prevent irresponsible and illegal gun possession that will prevent criminals from accessing the firearms.

In china, the McDonald’s chicken supply units together with KFC proprietors, Yum Brands Inc. are declared as a threat to the population and the sales of the company affected tremendously by such health scares.

The Chinese market boasts of more than five thousand one hundred Yum restaurants (Baertlein). Yum Brands Inc. is also the largest consumer restaurant operator in China even as McDonald’s is coming up with numerous restaurant chains in the Chinese market (Baertlein).

According to the Chinese authorities, the safety of the Chinese chicken supply especially in the most retail stores have been laced with excessive chemicals (Baertlein) but according to the American supply chain, they view such allegations as baseless because they consider their products to be safe, free from chemicals and have a higher quality as compared to the local supply chains.

This made Yum Brands to apologize to its Chinese clientele over the health scare that hit the country and the ways and means they are handling such problems. The company also stated that it is experiencing huge losses in one of its largest consumer market (Baertlein).

As a result of the health scare, the sales of McDonald’s in china has gone down during their fourth quarter by about 1 percent with a projected decline in sales over the remaining fiscal year. This report was provided by the supply’s head of the company Don Thompson in a conference meeting with market analyst, who said that the supply chain is “committed to ensuring there is a high quality standard for the food safety throughout the world” (Baertlein).

In terms of revenue, McDonald’s is the largest restaurant chains in the world as compared to Yum Brands Inc. McDonalds as a company, is trying to invest tremendously in the Chinese market by setting up with rapid restaurants in the country (Baertlein). The company in general has a target of putting up more than two thousand restaurants in China before the end of the year (Baertlein).
