Historical Context

Published in 2018, the article The Formation of the Black Medical Movement and Its Implications for Social Work, Part 1: African American Physicians by Fabienne Snowden centers on the health deficits of black American communities in the United States. Regarding historical context, the article takes readers back to how the health disparities that currently exist in the system came to be. The health gaps emanate from the fact that people of color came into the United States as slaves (Snowden, 2018). As slaves, they were not entitled to rights such as health because they were used to provide labor to their white counterparts. They were not viewed as equals, and as such, they did not have access to health care and resources for a long time and as a result, their issues were not addressed by the existing health systems. Additionally, there were no laws that addressed the problems of people of color because for a long time, they remained excluded and were not viewed as equals. Worth noting, in the context of social work, the story of how African American communities came to gain access to medical education and training remains largely unexplained.

Why the Information is Important

The information contained in this article is important to know at the beginning of the professional relation because it helps future professionals understand the journey of African American people in acquiring medical training. The information helps potential professionals understand the gains for people of color and what it means for them. It helps them know that people of color had to fight to be accepted and viewed as equals to their white counterparts. For a long time, people of color were excluded from all matters of health, including accessing health services themselves and training. For people of color to be accepted as equals in society and for them to hold positions as doctors and nurses, they had to struggle to prove themselves. The information instills values of resilience and hard work, particularly in the people of color, pushing them to become even greater people now that they know about their history.

Impact of Coronavirus Pandemic on Black and Brown Communities

The coronavirus pandemic disproportionately affects the black and brown communities, placing them at increased risk of contracting and succumbing to covid-19. Poverty and access to health care are problems that people of color have to deal with. Because of their low economic status, they cannot afford the best care if they contract the virus, which places them at a disadvantage compared to their white counterparts. Furthermore, people of color and other minority groups work in important sectors such as factories, farms, health care facilities, public transportation, and grocery stores, increasing their exposure to coronavirus. Worth noting, most African American people live in crowded conditions, which makes it difficult to social distance and isolate individuals who are sick. This increases their chances of contracting and succumbing to the virus.

My opinion of the Article

My general overview of the article is that it stresses the need to appreciate our past because it makes us who we are. I agree with this notion because it is only when one understands their roots, theta they become better placed to improve and make informed choices. Additionally, recognizing what happened in the world that existed before helps us build on the experiences and rectify their mistakes. Understanding what transpired between white people and people of color is very important. It shows us the struggles that people of color had to endure in their quest for racial equality in the health sector.

Technology growth has had a great impact on the changes, leadership, and information technology implementation in the learning institutions. Fullan (2001) proves that successful change of leadership perspective in the learning institution must modify the environment so as to invite conducive sharing and learning via the ICT. This is because of the contributions to the globally accepted policies, practices and the learning based on digital devices and networks. The process of interfacing technology with leadership in learning and educational sectors is gradually gaining popularity (ITEA, 2001).

It is very critical for all the education leadership to embrace and utilize the available instructional technologies that are based on modern technology. This is essential for accessing, locating vital information and finally creating and disseminating new knowledge to the learners. The reason behind these is the fact that students must be prepared adequately to occupy an environment fitted with ICT components and services. The other reason is to make the student emerge competitive by the use of ICT. Finally is the zeal to make the education system more efficient and effective (ITEA, 2001).

Stiroh (2001) credited technology growth as a very important force that drives the improved and productive businesses. He also judged that the increased U.S. labour force and the gradual rise in computing and communication technology is attributed to good leadership. This is because IT is the major force behind its productivity and that the U.S. productiveness is neither a onetime occurrence nor a cyclic but an ongoing process. Therefore, the vigorous relationship between IT productivity and leadership in education is very fundamental and cannot be neglected.

Specific issue

While dealing with leadership, there are various issues that good leaders must focus on. In essence, the leadership concern to the IT in education and learning system must be based on two fundamental aspects. These aspects include:

Technology

The technology wraps up the human engagement in innovative actions that are likely to generate new knowledge. The knowledge that is generated is sequentially used in the process of developing systems that solves problems and the challenges that is faced in real time situations and also to improve the human capabilities. These innovations are very useful and indeed applicable in rendering quality leaderships to not only students but also in all walks of life.

Educational technology

Use of the modern technologies such as multimedia, animations, graphical illustrations, internets can provide a valuable source of information to the leaders other than enabling them acquire the readily available leadership from the modern and ever growing technology. These accelerate the process of learning. Comprehension, reading and language can be propelled by the use of ICT in phonological, reading, vocabulary, writing, comprehension and spelling.

Research Methodology

To perform a comprehensive literature review, it is necessary to indentify and ascertain the best source of materials that helps in the extensive review. This assist in the interpretation, identification and analyzing the published and unpublished literatures from different authors and through the use of checklists available in the internet. Penfold’s G3 is a product line extension. This is because the company used its already established product brand and name to make a new item within the same product category. G3 is a blend of three vintages to make a completely new product within a new price range. Even the pricing strategy is different from the other products within the same category. Essentially, the new product is a new flavor that rides on the wave of previous products, brand, and name. product line extension means that a company lengthens the product line beyond the current range. Here, Penfold’s G3 uses an established brand name to alter certain features of a product in order to meet the needs of a given market segment. By blending different flavors to acquire a new taste, the G3 has ideally become an independent product under the same product line and brand. A new flavor, new form, color, and packaging have made the G3 a product line extension.

Product modification, on the other hand, is a basic improvement of an existing product by making some important changes in its characteristics, size, colour, packaging, and nature of the product in order to deal effectively with the consumer demands. It means that the company immediately begins producing the new product to replace the older version. For example, when Coca-Cola changes its Sprite packaging to include a more modern and stylish look, every other Sprite produced looks like the improved version.
