Al-Hijrah and Ashura for Muslims
Every religion observes special times that are considered important for their adherents as they represent significant dates and events in the religion’s calendar. There are various religions across the globe, including Christians and Muslims as the major religions across the globe. The Islamic religion is one of the major religions across the globe; Muslims believe in monotheism, and therefore, they worship one, all-knowing God, who is regarded as Allah in Arabic (Reza). Like every religion, followers of Allah aim to live a life of complete submission to Allah, as they believe that nothing happens without his permission, despite humans having free will. There are numerous special times in the Islamic religion that can be regarded to be of great importance to its adherents, including Al-Hijrah and Ashura special events for Muslims. For this assignment, I will analyze the two special events – Al-Hijrah and Ashura, analyzing their history, beliefs, and the activities associated with the observance of the two special events.
The Al-Hijrah is a special event for the Muslim adherents as it is the Islamic New Year (Kanaker and Ghani). It is the first day of the month of Muharram. The Al-Hijrah marked the Hijrah in 622 CE when Prophet Muhammad migrated from Mecca to Medina, setting up the first Islamic state in Medina. The Muslim calendar counts dates from the Hijrah, and this explains the reason Muslim dates have the suffix A.H (After Hijrah). Prophet Muhammad moved to Medina so that he could have the freedom to worship freely. According to the Muslim adherents, by Prophet Muhammad moving from Mecca, which was his home city, to Medina, a foreign territory; it depicts that faith is bigger than family, and therefore, Muslims are highly encouraged to put more emphasis on their religion even if it means abandoning their families.
Despite having a great significance to the Muslim adherents, the Al-Hijrah is depicted as a low-key event in the Muslim world and thus, celebrated less than some of the major festivals such as Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha. Based on this, there are no specific religious rituals required for Al-Hijrah, but Muslim adherents often think about the general meaning of the event and regard this as a good time for making ne year resolutions. Since it is not a major holiday, there are no special rules to be followed. It is considered to be more of a cultural day than a religious day, but in many Islamic countries, it has been designated as a public holiday. The special event provides Muslims with an opportunity to reflect, remember, and be grateful for what they have achieved in their lives. It is a time to find peace, and Muslims are encouraged not to fight, and therefore, soldiers may lay down their weapons in adherence to Al-Hijrah (Mahameed).
The Ashura is another major event in the Islamic religion. It is an Islamic holiday that occurs on the tenth day of Muharram, which happens to be the first month of the Islamic lunar calendar. While the Al-Hijrah marks the day Prophet Muhammad moved from Mecca to Medina to find freedom of worship, Ashura marks the day in which Prophet Moses was saved by God when he parted the sea while leading the children of Israel to the promised land (Haleem). Besides, the Ashura signifies the day on which the Battle of Karbala took place, resulting in the martyrdom of Husayn ibn Ali, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad, as well as a member of the Household of Muhammad (Al-Salihi). Therefore, the Ashura is a special event in the Islamic religion, and its adherents tend to observe it as a reminder of the two major events that occurred on the tenth day of Muharram. Since it reminds the Islamic adherents of martyrdom, there are certain rules that need to be followed in observance of the event, including fasting and mourning. Prophet Muhammad is a significant individual in the history of the Islamic religion, and so does his grandson. Based on this, Ashura symbolizes a time to strengthen the faith of the followers.

Dear Ms. Smith
As a competent and highly skilled social worker, I read your advertisement for a new social worker with a lot of zeal and interest. The substantial experience I have obtained through the volunteer programs I have been in, have seen me acquire the experience that align with the qualifications that your organization is seeking. In particular my role as a social worker with Top Recovery facility, made it possible for me to have a proven track record of accomplishments in successfully rehabilitating individuals affected with drug addiction and tracking the progress the patient makes along the recovery journey.
I am passionate about the benefits client-centered counselling brings to individuals trying to recover from addiction. I have an in-depth experience in evaluation of patients and programs, I also understand how to handle referrals and the ongoing treatment session. I have also gained sufficient experience while on the job, which include interpersonal skills and I am committed to helping the substance abuse addicts to break the chains of addiction and to be individuals to be respected in their societies. An example of my achievements include:
I took part in the development and the employing of a recovery perspective. Training of employees in the development of treatment plans that provide for continuous and elaborate care for addiction victims over time. I also made a contribution in the development of enriched counselling sessions and programs that aligned with the goals of the organization.
In addition to my experiences as a social worker, and the personal skills that I possess, I have a firm educational foundation and a passion for the improvement of lives. I am extremely passionate restoring dignity to those that once lost it through drug addiction. I cannot hide my excitement and thrill about HAI recovery facility’s focus on helping individuals break away from the chains of substance addiction
I am so eager to take on my next challenge, with utmost respect I submit my resume for your review. I would like to request a personal appointment to discuss the organization’s goals and how I can assist in achieving them and to discuss how my experience and background meet your needs.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely
Joan Kate.

Different Research Studies, Descriptive Research
This method of research explains what already exists in a group by describing categories of qualitative information or may involve collecting quantitative information. Descriptive research uses “what is” approach and it intensely involves use of description as a device in organizing data into patterns emerging during analysis and usually use diagrams such as charts to help the reader. This type of research can cover a wide geographical area. Descriptive research method may be successfully used to identify the relationship between two variables, revealing summary statistics and always help in recognizing alteration needed (Richey & Klein 40-44).
Historical Research Method
This kind of research helps in logical recall of complex events, people, significance and thoughts of the earlier period that have changed the current and it relies on numerous sources that involves both primary and secondary sources. It primarily relies on the analysis and interpretation of the historical information from chosen sources depending on the topic to be researched upon. This research method facilitates decision making and policy formulation whilst justifying the reason behind the current situation status and predicting future trends based on past ideas. It basically deal with past natural settings whilst its interpretation concentrates to the past research processes and requires very elaborate sensitivity to the related data. Historical research needs sources with first hand information of the events, ideas or any other data that have the true details or original records about the event that the study is based on (Connaway & Powell 246).
Correctional Research Method
This is one of the easiest research methods where a researcher assumes that there is a relationship between two variables and further tests for the statistical relationship between the two variables unlike descriptive research which only explains what is taking place, correlation research tends to explain the link between the different variables. Correlation research simply tries to assume that at least the two variables are related. Correlation research variables may take either same direction which is referred to as positive correlation or opposite direction that is statistically referred to as negative correlation and no correlation which suggests that there is absolutely no relationship between two variables under study. Researchers usually use number that ranges from -1 to +1 that are called correlation coefficient in measuring the strength of a correlation where any variable with a correlation above zero then it is called positive correlation (like +.34) while any correlation below zero (like-.87) is a negative correlation. However, it is important to note that correlation research does not imply causation but it is a means of looking for statistical relationships between variables when it is impossible to carry out testing (Burke & Christensen 44).
Experimental Research Method
All the other research methods do not have control over the situations hence making this kind of research the best amongst all. This method of research is geared towards proving a general principal that tends to explain various facts’ relationships by accurately defining the variables in the theory for testability purposes. Experimental Methods has two types of variables known as Independent variable that is manipulated by the experimenter and the dependant variable which refers to the outcome of the variable also known as the results of the experiment. This kind of research is aimed at predicting phenomenon and helps in explaining kind of some causation (Kothari 120).
