LBS 4484 Conflict Resolution Techniques
In this course, the main focus was on the ways that can be used to resolve conflicts, I learned all there is to know concerning managing conflict, transformation and the necessary conflict resolution skills. As I took the conflict resolution course, I learned more about the field than I had expected. I discovered that active listening skills and communication skills go a long way in reaching a resolution during times of conflict. I cannot forget to mention the usable action plan that goes a long way in producing a solution. These are invaluable lessons that I will hold on to moving forward. This course will be helpful in the future in helping me find viable solutions for conflicts as I am familiar with the required skills. It is also my hope to transfer my knowledge to other people so they can also benefit.
LBS 3480 Introduction to Conflict Resolution.
In this course, the central focus was on introducing the basic concepts in the course. I gathered insight into the training, knowledge, and skills required for effective conflict resolution. This course is important to me as it helped me understand conflicts in depth, making it easy to undertake negotiations and resolve conflicts. As I covered the topic of the causes and outcomes of conflict, I was able to get a better understanding of the conflicts that took place around me and also resolve them. In the future, I will apply the skills gained in this cause to avoid conflicts are resolve them should they arise.
SYG 3325 Social Deviancy
In this course, the main focus is to explore the behavior of norms or regularities that have been culturally accepted. I learned how deviant behavior is reviewed and analyzed from a sociological point of view. As I handled a task on crime and the criminal justice system, I discovered the right procedure to go about resolving a conflict. I put in extra effort in this course compared to other courses because I enjoy the content. When applying for positions, I will let my employer know that I am familiar with resolving highly stressful conflicts.

Cultural Background Interview
This interview was conducted in San Antonio, and the responded was a 54yrs old African American resident of the city.
The interviewee’s ancestor came to this place during second last decade of the 19th century. The originated for agricultural plantation along the Mississippi river. This origin points out that the ancestors of the interviewee were descendants of slave laboring in one of the farms round the Mississippi river.
The interviewee is not sure how his ancestor travelled to Texas either of foot or o horse drawn carts. During this ear the popular means of transport was streetcars or horse drawn cars. Public transport means were not very well established at this time. His ancestors must have had a hard time travelling from Mississippi to San Antonio.
The interviewee considers the African American heritage his culture. He first became aware of his culture while in grade two when he noted difference in the way his family conducted its activities and the way the other families around them conducted their duties.
While growing up the interviewee state that he noted different attitudes towards minority group from different people from his life towards the minority. Being part of the minority groups in the country he was surrounded by member from his cultural group but also interacted with different people from different groups. For instance, most of his teachers whites and had different attitudes towards the minority groups. He grew up in an era when the effect of the civil right movement were settling within the American society and state that some of the white teacher harbor animosity towards minority groups, while some held back from rebuking student from minority groups probably due to the notion that such an action would not be received well by the members of the minority groups. Washington never noted attitudes toward the minorities from his friend however he noted that most of the old people from the minority groups and sometimes his parent felt that the minorities were excluded from the mainstream American society. Some of the harbored so much bitterness towards what they termed as inequality. Washington adds that some of his friends also harbored this attitude. Another very influential person in his life, the pastor at the local church, a descendant of Spanish immigrants was very friendly never showing favoritism or distrust.
Washington was proud of his culture. His pride emanates from the fact that his culture gives him identity and a sense of belonging. His culture which is strong influence by Christian values provides the moral code by which he has lived his entire life.
Concerning what it means to be an American, Washington stated that being an American has always been a source of pride to him. It is part of his identity and makes him a product of a multicultural society. He stated that he always exhibits cultural diversity; it would be difficult for anyone to tell he is an African American had he not possessed the African skin.
It is with this zeal that Washington responded to the next question on American citizenship. He state that “it always feels good, and bestows him a sense of pride to be an American citizen. The country embraces diversity in a way that has never been seen before around the world.” Washington is certainly proud of the values America embrace following the civil right movement that made the America society to appreciate diversity and not use it as a way of segregating against people.
Washington described himself as an American of African American heritage and Christian background who embraces diversity relishes in it. He stated that he understand that the American society us diverse but never fails to share his believe with people from different groups. He also enjoys learning about other groups. According to his opinion multicultural education involve an education system that us responsive to the needs of the various cultural groups in the country. It makes learner aware of their culture and the culture of their peers. Therefore, multicultural education would have a classroom that has learners from different backgrounds and learning material that contain information on different backgrounds. Washington further noted that such education would provide different information to learners at different levels of study like introducing leaner bellow grade three to basic cultural difference, providing more information to learners in elementary level and provide more critical information to leaner in secondary and post secondary learning institutions.

Lactose Intolerance Condition
People who suffer from lactose intolerance cannot fully digest lactose in milk. This explains why they show lactose intolerance symptoms that include gas, diarrhea, and bloating after consuming dairy products. This condition is known as lactose malabsorption. Although it is harmless, the symptoms tend to be uncomfortable for patients. The small intestine is the site where lactose digestion occurs. It is a small hollow tube running from the stomach and joining the large intestines. Less enzyme production of lactase is what leads to lactose intolerance. One can be having low lactase levels and still manage to digest milk products. However, if the levels are too low, a person gets lactose intolerant, leading to symptoms of lactose intolerance after leading a meal with dairy products. The symptoms often take about 30 minutes before they start showing or after two hours (Fassio, Maria, and Fabio, 1539). Most people that suffer from lactose intolerance are capable of managing the condition without necessarily giving up dairy foods in their budget entirely. Lactose intolerance tends to be common in adults and rare in infants for several reasons. Very few babies are born with the lactase enzyme. This is a rare genetic condition where most children are born without the enzymes making them lactose tolerant. Lactose intolerance is hereditary, meaning it is passed from one family member to the next. In such cases, as the person grows, the body produces less lactase enzyme. This explains symptoms tend to start in adult or teenage years. In some cases, the small intestines even stop producing lactase following an infection, disease, or injury.
Polyuria and Diamox
Polyuria is a medical term used to describe excessive urination or peeing. Besides drinking water in excessive amounts, polyuria could be an indication of an underlying medical illness. The condition is mostly common among diabetes insipidus and diabetes mellitus patients. The Diamox drug that is used to treat mountain sickness makes a person pee because it has a diuretic effect. It causes a reversible reaction that involves the dehydration of carbonic acid and hydration of carbon dioxide. What results is a loss of HCO3 ions from the renal system, which carry out water, potassium, and sodium (Christ-Crain, 11). This was the alkalinization of urine and dieresis is promotions are affected. Polyuria in diabetes takes place when there are excessive sugar levels in the blood. Under normal circumstances, kidneys take time to produce urine as they absorb sugars and direct them back towards the bloodstream. Excessive urine or peeing is usually one of the first signs that patients with diabetes mellitus tend to display. Polyuria makes sugar build up in the bloodstream, and if a person’s kidneys are not able to filter them out, they tend to exist in the body through the urinary system. As the extra sugar continues building ups, so does one feel the need to pee frequently.
Effect of Diarrhea on Blood PH, Urine PH, and Pattern of Ventilation
The first sign that Miley experiences after contracting an intestinal disease is diarrhea, which is likely to affect her blood PH, urine PH, and ventilation pattern. Diarrhea is likely to affect Miley’s diarrhea by lowering the levels of bicarbonate which is the base that makes it possible to neutralize the acids that are in the blood (Trefz, Constable, and Lorenz, 907). If the blood is too acidic, respiratory acidosis is likely to take place. Additionally, hyperchloremic acidosis is also likely to occur due to the loss of sodium bicarbonate, which is integral in keeping the blood neutral. Both vomiting and diarrhea also tend to cause lactic acidosis that occurs when the body has excessive lactic acid. Patients that have normal acidosis after diarrhea have a urine pH of more than 5.5. The reason is that volume contraction leads to reduced availability of sodium ions for reabsorption back to the collecting duct. This lessens the negative potential of the intratubular electrochemical potential hence the proton secretion rate. The diarrhea is also likely to cause a change in the pattern of ventilation. Respiratory rates have been known to increase with diarrhea. Children who have diarrhea tend to have fast breathing because of metabolic acidosis caused by dehydration. Fast breathing is usually as a result of metabolic acidosis caused by dehydration.
Effectiveness of Contraception Pills
Progesterone and estradiol are the main components in the contraceptive pill that make them effective for pregnancy prevention. Contraceptives containing progestogen only are 92% effective, meaning out of 100, only eight fail (Matyanga and Blessing, 34). This means that if a person does not miss a pill, contraceptive pills can be 99% effective. Contraceptive pills work by reducing or stopping the release of an egg from the ovary. In essence, the progesterone hormone stops the ovulation process. Contraception pills make the cervical mucus thick to prevent the sperm from pointing into the uterus. They make the lining of the uterus thin such that a fertilized egg has fewer chances of attaching. Contraception pills should be taken as directed because they are 99% effective against pregnancy if used effectively. One does not need to interrupt sex to take birth control. Pregnancy rates would increase if women did not take pills as directed as they would not be effective. Taking contraception after one has gotten pregnant has no effect if a woman is in the early stages of pregnancy. Taking contraception pills does not cause miscarriages or stillbirth.
