Principles of Marketing 1st of 8 questions, I will need to use the same publicly traded company for all questions.

Unit I Research Project

Marketing Plan In application of the concepts learned in this course, you will research an EXISTING publicly traded company compiling a comprehensive marketing plan for this company throughout the course. Note that this is NOT a hypothetical entrepreneurial venture but instead an existing publicly traded company, of your choice. Utilizing the CSU Online Library, you will research the various elements of the marketing plan as it relates to this company. In Unit I you will provide a Company Overview and a PEST Analysis.

Company Overview This section will provide the reader with a general understanding of the company and product/service offered by the company creating the value proposition for the customer. You might include general information about the company and industry and product/service. Additional general information might include the size of company, location, NAISC code, mission/vision/objectives, or any other general information about the company.

PEST Analysis The purpose of this section of the marketing plan is to describe how changes in the business environment will affect the company. This will be achieved by the use of the PEST Analysis, which attempts to review how changes in the political/legal environment will affect your company, how changes in the economic environment will affect the company, how changes in the socio-cultural environment will affect your company, and finally, how changes (advancements) in technology will affect your company.

Your submission should be a minimum of two pages in length, double-spaced with a reference page and title page. References should include at least one additional, credible reference beyond the textbook. All sources used must be referenced; paraphrased and quoted material must have accompanying citations and cited per APA guidelines. Include the use of subheadings (this week consider using Company Overview and PEST Analysis).

To determine the company you would like to research you may want to do a general search for “existing publicly traded company” or “publicly traded company list”. If you have questions about what a publicly traded company is or if the company you have chosen will work for this assignment please reach out to your professor.

I will also include grading rubric.

A physician borrowed a page from product marketers when she asked their advice to help persuade people in the developing world to wash their hands habitually with soap.

Diseases and disorders caused by dirty hands-like diarrhea-kill a child somewhere in the world about every 15 seconds, and about half those deaths could be prevented with the regular

use of soap. The project adapted techniques that major marketers use to encourage habitual product usage of items such as skin moisturizers, disinfecting wipes, air fresheners, water purifiers, toothpaste, and vitamins. For example, beer commercials often depict a group of guys together, because research shows that being with a group of friends tends to trigger habitual drinking The researchers found that when people in Ghana experienced a feeling of sus, his was a cue to wash their hands. However, as in many developing countries, toilets actually a symbol of cleanliness because they have replaced pit latrines. So, an advertising campaign included messages that reminded people of the gems they could still pickup even in modern bathrooms mothers and children walked out of restrooms with a glowing purple pigment on their hands that contaminated everything they touched. these images n turn triggered the habit of hand washed and the project resulted in a significant increase in the number of consumer who washed their hands with soap.

choose an organization or case that works to improve public health, the environment, or another social issue, and explain how this organization can harness our knowledge about consumer learning and habitual behaviour to create or reenergize positive habits? How will you create high consume involvement, with emotional response do you want to elicit in your consumer and why?

marketing unit I case study

Unit I Case Study

Case studies are an important learning strategy in business classes as they provide an opportunity for you to critically

analyze events that have taken place in real-life businesses. This develops your critical thinking and research skills as you

research the competition and industry in which your business resides with an end goal of formulating a recommendation for

the challenges faced by the company.

Select one of the three case studies listed below, which can be found in your textbook. Evaluate the case of your choice,

and respond to each of the questions below using both theory and practical managerial thinking as well as supporting

research.

Option 1: Nike (pp. 30–31)

1. How has the industry in which Nike resides been doing over the last 5 years?

2. What are the pros, cons, and risks associated with Nike’s core marketing strategy? How have they managed to

develop a strong customer relationship with their target market?

3. Who are the top three competitors of Nike, and what are their advantages/disadvantages with respect to their

product/service development?

4. Looking at the competitors you discussed in question #3, what would you recommend as being the next steps for

these competitors and subsequently the next steps for Nike to combat these competitors?

Option 2: Cisco (pp. 58–59)

1. How is building a brand in a business-to-business (B2B) context different than that of a business-to-consumer (B2C)

market? How has Cisco managed to develop a strong customer relationship with their target market?

2. How has the industry in which Cisco resides been doing over the last 5 years?

3. Who are the top three competitors of Cisco, and what are their advantages/disadvantages with respect to their

product/service development?

4. Is Cisco’s plan to reach out to consumers a viable one? Why, or why not? As a marketing manager for Cisco, what

would you recommend to be the next steps?

Option 3: Intel (pp. 59–60)

1. Discuss how Intel changed ingredient-marketing history. What did it do so well in those initial marketing campaigns?

How did Intel manage to develop a strong customer relationship with their target market?

2. How has the industry in which Intel resides been doing over the last 5 years?

3. Who are the top three competitors of Intel, and what are their advantages/disadvantages with respect to their

product/service development?

4. Evaluate Intel’s greatest risks and strengths as the industry moves out of the personal computer (PC) era. Identify the next steps that Intel needs to employ in order to maintain its competitive advantage.

In formatting your case analysis, do not use the question-and-answer format; instead, use an essay format with

subheadings. Your APA-formatted case study should be a minimum of 500 words in length (not counting the title and

reference pages). You are required to use a minimum of three peer-reviewed, academic sources that are no more than 5

years old (one may be your textbook). All sources used, including the textbook, must be referenced; paraphrased material

must have accompanying in-text citations.
