The immunity or special rights available or given only to certain groups of people or person is what is termed as a privilege. The word privilege is normalized and constructed by the societal established frameworks. This implies that people are graded by those they encounter, and since these audiences are so influenced by the normalcy created, the grading may be unintentional. Meaning that, it might be extremely hard to change even though you are aware of a privilege. Common forms of privilege include: racial, male, social status, ethnic, age, athletic, sex, cultural, sexual and race among others. Almost everyone benefits from some sort of privilege. It is an integral part of the society, since the advantaged group holds the influence or power and thus can dictate the societal laws framework, institutions and values. These developments will continue to view the rights of the oppressed (under-privileged) as secondary while benefiting the group in control. With this in mind it is essential that people differentiate between the advantages that should be globalized and those that should be completely eradicated so as to control privilege.
An example that demonstrates privilege is when my family recently went to India over the summer holidays. Until visiting the country, I had no idea what poverty was really like or the difference between absolute and relative poverty. To see it in this perspective left a lasting mark on me. It is unimaginable to grasp the contrast between the developments in the United States and the abject poverty I saw during the trip. It made me realize that my lessons on privilege started long before I could understand it more comprehensively.

Nursing is a career within the health care sector that deals with provision of care to individuals, families and communities in order to maintain, recover or attain quality of life and good health. Specifically, nursing profession assists in protection, optimization and promotion of abilities and health, easing suffering through diagnosis and treatment of diseases and other adverse health conditions, prevention of injury and illness, and advocacy on issues that affect the health of communities, individuals, populations and families. The main professional skills required in nursing include discipline, detail-oriented skills, good organization skills, excellent communication skills, compassion, time management skills and ability to work as a team. Junior nursing practitioner do not require any working experience and get experienced as they work, however, nursing in managerial positions require at least three year experience in both clinical practice and administrative duties. The top organizations that offer nursing jobs are hospitals, nongovernmental organizations, and government institutions such as the pentagon, relief agencies such as Red Cross and health insurance firms. The average income for nurses is between $43,000 and $63000 per year (John Hopkins University, 2013). The demand for nursing profession, compared to other professions such as information and communication technology is relatively low as few people are willing to study, resulting in shortage of nurses in America and other developed countries. Although most of the students are not opting for nursing career, there are high prospects for career growth as nursing profession gets modernized and embrace information technology in most of its procedures. Further, with the shortage of nurses and high demand for nursing services, there are high chances that the career is going to be very marketable in future .Since the need for quality health care is universal, nursing profession is not limited to any geographic area and so as a nurse, I will be able to get a job in my locality. The main career pathways in nursing care nurse practitioner, nurse midwife, nurse educator, nurse researcher, advanced practice nurse, patient education specialist, administrator, and legal nurse consultant. Nurses can advance and get promotion by advancing in their education and after gaining enough experience in clinical practice (Vallano, 2008).
There are three main academic options that one can undertake to become a nurse. These are a bachelor’s degree (BSN or Bachelor of Science in nursing), a diploma from an accredited hospital or nursing program, and an associate degree in nursing. The most useful nursing education options are Bachelor of Science in nursing that takes 4 years and associate degree in nursing that takes two years. These degree programs are useful because they are versatile and offer one an opportunity for career growth and advancement. The Tuition fee for Bachelor of Science in nursing is approximately $60,000 per year although the amount may vary depending on variation in factors that affect the economy. I expect to get my tuition fee and money for other expenses from my parents, loan, and scholarship. Being a practical profession and one that deals with human lives, nursing students are required to undergo internship in order to gain requisite experience that would assist them when practicing nursing care. I have two friends who practice nursing in public hospital and the advice they can share is that nursing is a call that requires discipline, compassion and honesty in order to provide high and satisfactory services to clients (Royal College of Nursing, 2013).
Basing on the understanding of nursing career inventory and self analysis I have the qualities that befit a competent nurse. I am compassionate, caring, honest, hardworking, easy to learn, responsible and friendly and so I can associate with patients, deliver quality health care and empathize with their conditions. As a nurse, I will be dealing with individuals, communities, families and populations that will be seeking quality health care and well being. I value nursing because it will give a chance of fulfilling my passion of assisting the society by providing preventive and curative health services, raise awareness about different health issues to communities and advocating for health needs of individuals and the society in general. Nursing career is well paying and has positive future prospects for high financial benefits. As such, I will earn enough money to sustain my family and cater for my luxury needs such as vacations (Vallano, 2008).
It has been argued that nursing in the United Arabs Emirates is one of the most developed in terms of offering public service. Though this is subject to discussion, the bare facts of its organization could shine right on the issue. Nursing in the United Arabs Emirates has been lacked on the top in terms of diversity. The field attracts foreign qualified nurses. This has had the effects of stoking United Arabs Emirates nursing with the best personnel. Such characteristics could be the reason behind the assumption that UAE nursing is one of the best in the world.
In this regards, nursing in the UAE is characterized by three types of nurses. These are licensed practice nurses, registered nurses and practice nurses. Licensed nurses are trained for two years in anatomy as well as physiology. This includes practical care to patients and medication. They can perform complex procedures in medicine and will be found largely in clinics. On the other hand, registered ones supervise the work of licensed practice nurses. Their services include contact care to the patient .This may involve at home care, schools or in the offices. For the qualification, registered nurses have a diploma, a bachelors and a certificate from the state board examination. Just like RNs, advanced practice nurses have extra knowledge and skills and are holders of doctoral or masters degree in the field. Their work involves all primary care to patients.
Regardless of the nature of their training, nurses in the UAE have an all rounded nature of work that include treating patients, educating them about diverse medical situations as well as offering emotional support to patients and relatives. In addition to this, nurses conduct lessons on patients and relatives on how to contain their illness. A part form this, nurses in the UAE are expected to conduct public education where they educate the general public on general health. Such general health education could include immunization health screening and even seminars. It is this all roundedness of the UAE nurses that their ranking among the best in the world is based.
The working environment of nurses in UAE is conducive for their work. Nurses work in lit areas as well as comfortable healthcare centers. Public and home health nurses go to the sick wherever they are. This could be at home, in community centers schools and any other place that their services may be needed. Their commitment to their work justifies them to be ranked among the best in the world. Nursing in the UAE is one of the most engaging occupations with registered nurses spending as much as twenty four hours attending the sick. Registered nurses for example, are able to work on a short notice. Those working in schools and other institutions like offices are the only places that nurses are able to take work on a regular basis (Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. Department of Labor 35)
The professionalism characteristic of UAE nursing is originated from their training. For one to be a registered nurse in the UAE, a constant path in academic in line with the nursing profession is a must. Individuals aiming to take nursing as their career are advised to weigh all the disadvantages and advantages first, so that he/she can make the best nurse. The nursing program in the UAE has also provisions for those wishing to change careers to nursing. This program is only reserved for holders of bachelors. Such requirements are set to ensure that quality in nursing is maintained.

How The Yellow Wallpaper Show’s The Triumph of Women in a Male-Dominated Society
The Yellow Wallpaper” is a story about how women are often trapped in domestic life where society dictates everything they do. The woman narrator of the story is married to her husband, John. The woman has a mental condition known as nervous depression. The story begins with her husband taking her for their summer vacation in n aristocratic estate in what seems like a haunted house. She is not allowed to leave the room, and neither is she allowed to write. She is always complaining that her husband, John, belittles her thoughts and illness and all her concerns in general. The narrator uses the yellow wallpaper in the bedroom to represent the chains of marriage that have held her captive in marriage. As such, I agree that the story “The Yellow Wallpaper” is an accurate depiction of a woman’s ultimate triumph over the restriction that has been put in place in a patriarchal society. This text analyses the use of texts from the story to prove this assertion.
`The society is designed in a way that reinforces the subordinate status of women in society. For this reason, the reader experiences the lonely and desolate life that the narrator is leading. Her husband, who is a doctor, does not do anything to assists her situation. Instead, he is exacerbating the problem by taking her through psychological horror. He isolates her in a very secluded part of the country and tells her not to leave the room. This compilation of stories openly criticizes the tale that the place of a woman is only at home. At the time of this writing, women were treated as second class citizens, where they were expected to stay at home and carry out domestic roles such as cooking and cleaning. However, things have changed in the 21st century, and women have become more independent. This text shows that gender division has prevented women from achieving their full potential because they were viewed as childish, foolish, and of low intellect (Gilman, 19). John sees himself as a superior being, and he uses that to dominate, misjudge, and patronize his wife thinking that he is helping her. On the contrary, this does not assist in improving the situation. John reduces the narrator to the point that she cannot stand up for herself because she is afraid of coming out as disloyal. Sadly, she has no say even in the smallest details that are happening in her life. That is why her mind often wanders into obsessive fantasy. She sees a woman who has been trapped behind the wallpaper in the bedroom and has been trying to break free. This represents the ties of patriarchy and domination that continue to force women into subordination in marriage and other sectors of their life.
Furthermore, the narrator is struggling to keep her mind in a state of relief. Without a doubt, any mind which is forced to become inactive is destined for destruction. The narrator is struggling with mental constraints, which are driving her insane more each day. Her husband is forcing her to suppress her fears and anxieties. Although she knows that staying secluded and alone is not good for her condition, she is forced to abide by what her husband says because she wants to save her marriage. She is forced to become completely passive, and her husband warns her severally against writing. He insists that she must use her self-control to suppress her thoughts. The narrator’s eventual insanity is a product of repressing her imagination instead of suppressing it.
Another deed that proves that the narrator’s husband John reinforced her condition of insanity is that he threatened that he would send her to Mitchell Weir at one point. This is the narrator under whose care Gilman had suffered a nervous breakdown; this was immediately after her family came to visit her during the holiday of the fourth of July. The visit left her very exhausted, and at this point, she had to adhere to her husband’s directives or risk being taken to an even worse place. Because writing is now off-limits, she longs for an imaginative and emotional way to let go of her feelings. She goes to the extent of keeping a private journal that neither her husband nor his sister knows. In the text, she refers to the journal as ‘relief to her mind”. This shows that although she has been forbidden from using writing, she longs to write because it helps her let go of her imagination.
In essence, the story of The Yellow Wallpaper is used to symbolize the ties that hold women and prevent them from being truly free. Worth noting, the narrators in this text use short stories to narrate her life at the hands of an oppressive husband who controls every aspect of her life. The women suffer from nervous depression because her husband, a doctor, has secluded in a house where she cannot go out or write down her imaginations. Her husband maintains that seclusion is what she needs to get better, while on the contrary, her condition seems to be worsening. This narrator represents hundreds if not thousands of women whose life is at a standstill because of societal expectations in a patriarchal society that only reinforces women’s subordinate status in society.
