Research Paper: Annotated Bibliography Assignment Instructions

Overview

This assignment is designed to help you get a jump start on your Research Paper: Final Assignment. This will benefit you in two ways. First, you will start your research in this module, which will help give you the time you need to write a good paper; second, you will get feedback on this assignment about your formatting and the direction of your research, which you can apply to your final research paper when you write it. For this assignment, you will be required to find and read two articles from scholarly journals and then summarize them.

Instructions

You will compile an annotated bibliography that contains two scholarly articles from academic journals you can use for the Research Paper: Final Assignment due in Module 5. Following each citation, you must include a brief paragraph of 120-150 words that gives a summary of your chosen source.

The articles must be sources you can use for the Research Paper: Final Assignment, where you will select one (1) of the topics below and fully address all the details it contains:

  • Write a biography about an individual who was influential in the field of aviation, and how this individual helped to define modern-day aerospace. The scope of this is broad. This could be an inventor, businessman, or a pilot. Some examples would include Ferdinand von Zeppelin, Hugo Junkers, Amelia Earhart, and Neil Armstrong.
  • Examine the creation, production, and use of a specific model of aircraft, and how this model of aircraft helped to define modern-day aerospace. Some examples would include the Spad XIII, DC-3, Supermarine Spitfire, and the Boeing 747. Keep in mind that you are only writing about one specific model, not multiple.
  • Choose a specific era of aviation and analyze three details or events from that era that were vital to the advancement of modern aerospace.

You can use the databases from the Jerry Falwell Library to find two scholarly journal articles. JSTOR, Project MUSE, ProQuest, and EBSCO are all excellent databases.

Review the Research Paper: Annotated Bibliography Grading Rubric before submitting, to be sure your submission fulfills all the assignment requirements.
