Writing Research Proposal Assignment

For class exercise, please pretend you are interested in people’s decisions to use face coverings in public settings.
Step 1 (5 points): Short, but to the point!
• Identify a research purpose (i.e., descriptive, exploratory, explanatory, or evaluation study).
• Describe why your research study is worthwhile to conduct (i.e., study significance). You may need to do a brief literature review to justify your study significance.
Step 2 (3 points): Based on the purpose, develop a research question and, if relevant, develop a research hypothesis.
Step 3 (14 points): Short, but to the point!
• Using a survey data collection method (e.g., mail, telephone, email, web-site based), please identify from whom (i.e., sample and sampling method) and what information (i.e., variables), and how (i.e., data collection method) you are going to collect quantitative data.
• Using a qualitative data collection method (e.g., focus group, interview, photo voice, observation, etc), please identify from whom (i.e., sample and sampling method) and what information (i.e., variables) you are going to collect qualitative data.
Step 4 (3 points): Discuss implications of your proposed study.
Step 5 (5 points): Discuss pros and cons of conducting a mixed method research for your proposed study.
